Most Romantic Songs, EVER!

I have two that never fails, for entirely different reasons:

Preparing to fly - Waterboys

Possibly Maybe - Björk

There were several from Fleetwood Mac that fit the mood in different ways.

One that was upbeat for kissing and playing was Over My Head

I don't think I've seen one mentioned here yet that isn't great.

Cocoon - Bjork

All is Full of Love - Bjork, I always turn into a puss when I listen to this song

Linger - Cranberries

Whoa! They let you out of the GB?

:D :rose: (Nice to see you here!)

Temptation - Diana Krall

As I Sleep - Richard Elliott

Soul Seranade - David Sanborn

And anything by Natalie Cole. She can't help sounding romantic. Even on songs like Don't Get Around Much Anymore.

There are too many for me to choose, but one that immediately comes to mind is The Cure's Lovesong.

An excellent choice, a beautiful song; personally though, I've always preferred This Twilight Garden.

What are you doing over here?

Covertly following you.

I think I need some practice.

May latest find is:

The Love We Make by Prince

Desperate is the day that is 2morrow
4 those who do not know the time has come
2 whip the dogs that beg, steal or borrow
From the table God set 4 His Son

Wicked is the witch that stands 4 nothing
All the while watching 2 see U fall
Deeper than the ditch that bred your suffering
The one being dug right now by them all

Happy is the way 2 meet your burdens
No matter how heavy or dark the day
Pity on those with no hope 4 2morrow
It's never as bad as it seems until we say

Precious is the baby with a mother
That tells him that his Saviour is coming soon
All that believe will cleanse and purify themselves
Put down the needle, put down the spoon {x2}

Sacred is the prayer that asks 4 nothing, oh
While seeking 2 give thanks 4 every breath we take, oh
Blessed are we inside this prayer
4 in the new world, we will be there

The only love there is, is the love we make {x2}
(The only love there is, is the love we make)
Only love there is, only love there is
The only love there is, is the love we make (Yeah)
The only love there is, is the love we make

Fury :rose:

I go where my pedantry takes me, if you catch me while I'm pontificating, I'm less observant.

I'm not very good at sneaking around.

Could you please just tell me when you're leaving? That'll make it a lot easier.

;)

I was thinking of putting together a CD of the Most Romantic Songs, Ever.

I need some ideas of what songs to include. I want the kind of songs that remind you of passionate kisses. The kind that make you want to jump your lover's bones on the spot. The kind that twist at your innards and .... well, you get the idea.

So far I've come up with two I consider to be very romantic:

1. Wicked Game - by Chris Isaak

2. Nights in White Satin - by the Moody Blues

Please help me add to the list.

Isaak's version is ok, but i have one that i like a bit more. But i may be into harder stuff than you are :)

HIM:
In Joy and Sorrow
Heartache every Moment
Heaven Tonight
Gone with the Sin
One Last Time
Beautiful
Wicked Game (just for comparison :D )
Close to the Flame
Please Dont' Let it Go
The Sacrement
I Love You (Prelude to Tragedy)
Love You Like I Do
Lose You Tonight

Their list goes on :)

Metallica:

Nothing Else Matters (too obvious?)

hmm...My collection seems to be lacking in the love song/ballad department

I'm just grand. Wandering around threadjacking. It's a calling. ;)

Of course I do, but if you think I'm unlocking them you're fooling yourself...

To justify my post, Mck, do you have any opinion on including country songs? :D

I was thinking of mentioning Garth Brooks - The Dance, but was afraid of the lynching crowd.

:D

In Your Eyes ~ Peter Gabriel

Poetry Man ~ Phoebe Snow

You make me laugh
'Cause your eyes they light the night
They look right through me
You bashful boy
You're hiding something sweet
Please give it to me

You are a genie
And all I ask for is your smile
Each time I rub the lamp
When I am with you
I have a giggling teen-age crush
Then I'm a sultry vamp

Talk to me some more
You don't have to go
You're the Poetry Man
You make things all right

So once again
It's time to say so long
And so recall the lull of life
You're going home now
Home's that place somewhere you go each day
To see your wife
To see your wife

Talk to me some more
You don't have to go
You're the Poetry Man
You make things all right

"Amazed" by Lonestar

"Your Song" by Elton John

"Always on My Mind" by Elvis or Willie Nelson

"Sara Smile" by Hall & Oates (although I found another amazing rendition on yahoo music videos... can't remember the guy's name... but I like it even better!

"Isn't It Romantic" as sung by some anonymous crooner when Audrey Hepburn dances with Humphrey Bogart in "Sabrina." There are great recordings of "Isn't It Romantic" by Ella Fitzgerald, Rosemary Clooney, Ray Charles...

The Beatles' "Norwegian Wood." Not sure I'd call it romantic since it's about a one-night stand, but it's undeniably sexy.

"September Song." The all-time champion of sad romantic songs. Did I say sad? I meant tragically depressing and filled with despair. But it's romantic because you can't hear it without wanting to tell someone you love him...Before those days dwindle down to a precious few.

:(

I love Rosemary Clooney's and Sinatra's versions of this:

September Song

Oh, it's a long, long while from May to December
But the days grow short when you reach September
When the autumn weather turns the leaves to flame
One hasn't got time for the waiting game

Oh, the days dwindle down to a precious few
September, November
And these few precious days I'll spend with you
These precious days I'll spend with you

I'll bet a lot of soldiers scored with that one during WWII. If they didn't, they weren't trying.

How many blank CDs do you have? I've seen some excellent choices here.

Hey,...you could be up 12 hours worth of uninterrupted kissing with all these selections.

;)

Just thought of a new one. Well not just one, an entire album:

Enigma - MCMXC A. D. (I actually used to get off to this music as a teenager. Just the music.)
