Excellent! So glad you're joining in! I know you'll have no probs, being a winner of the Survivor contest. :)

Consider this my official signup too. I need to get a bit of a plan together this time - I think that will work better for me. Lou, your little exercises were great - I will try those. I can't believe it's almost time already!

P.S. - Hi WSO! Haven't seen you around in a while.

You're almost as excited as me, aren't you? :D

Lou

I'm still thinking about it.

I have to walk for an hour a day. Daughters large hairy dogs are a good excuse.

I have a lot of political and business things on before Christmas when my bookshop closes for ever.

I shouldn't do NaNo this year but a line of Can-Canning asses is VERY tempting.

Oops I missed your 'Hi!' JJ. Nice to see you. :) I've been snowed under with studying - still am until the end of October - but thought I'd drop by. I was stunned to see Lou setting this up ALREADY! Time flies and all that. lol

I'm still debating whether to sign up. If I do, I think I'll take it as I did last year. I'll use NaNo to give me some writing dicipline and not bother with the word count. It really helped last year.

Lou, 'modern hejit' is right! ;) But a lovely one. :) :rose: Please say hi to hubby for me and I hope his writing is going well. :)

Yep, NaNo is great for writing discipline, even if you don't get near the 50,000 words.

Adam says hi back, btw! He's chuffed you remembered him (I rarely do  ;) ). His writing is going VERY well. He's completed the edits on his first NaNo novel now, and has just written up the synopsis. He'll be sending it off to a publisher next week! He's halfway through the sequal to it right now, and is also raring to go with a new novel for NaNo. He's a great motivator for me, that's for sure!

Thanks for asking after him, btw.

Oh that's wonderful news! Please pass on my best wishes and I'll pray that the publisher can see the diamond their going to be reading. :) Good luck both with the completed novel and the new one Adam.

I wish they could figure out how to bottle and sell motivators and supporters. Your house must be pure insanity at times. ;) But a great place for your kids. :)

Thank you, so very much, from both of us.

Our house is pure insanity most of the time, we're all pretty loud and out-going (even the dog :D). The poor neighbours. ;)

It's a great way to live! :D

And, well, *sigh* someone's gotta do it. ;) :D

Have a great rest of the day and weekend, Lou. :rose:

Hey, hey, Delicious Blonde!!!

Sign-ups don't start until 1st October, babe. Probably why you were having probs! ;)

I'll be setting off my siren that day, so that none of us forget. :D

It's great you're gonna join in!

Lou :rose:

I knew it! I knew it was just me being silly!

Okay then...I still wanna play!

Just outta curiosity... Anybody else kinda feel a crush for Tatelou every now and then? Or is that just me too?

It's just you, hon. Others just flatter me, with the sole intention of getting in my knickers.

;)

Thanks.

Glad you still wanna play! Watch this space...

Ah shit oggie... you can't close the bookshop... I never got to visit, and I was intending to look out for a bookshop with a big bearded guy running it next time I was down your way... and demand a cuppa and chat... that visit in your direction won't be until next year now I doubt.

Do the Nano thing mate, you know you want to:D and sod them Can-Can girls, they only knacker a bloke.

That's not true young lady... I don't want to get in your knickers at all... they'd never fit me... I just want to get them off of you:devil:

a question...

I have never posted over here in this area of the Lit Forums, so I might not be as "up" on everything as everyone else...

I have a question....

Do most of you tend to write erotic novels for this, or do you all just happen to be "signing up" together here because you just happen to do writing here as well?

I have been thinking about doing some serious writing for a while, and this sounds like just the thing to give me a much needed kick in the ass...

I am kinda nervous here...anyone else that would be doing this for the first time?

A small hint for those just entering the NanoWrimo arena. IF you relax and do 1667 words a day, you'll come in under the wire at the end of the month.

this makes me feel a whole lot better LOL

It'll be the first year for me, and I'm sure there's other NaNoWriMo virgins that are going to participate.

I can't answer for anyone else, but the idea I have isn't really for an erotic novel, although I can't promise there won't be some sexy scenes there. ;)

It will be my second time - stil haven't finished last years, but WTF. Aiming to try a romantic thriller this time, mainly to see if I can. It doesn't matter what you write, just join the gang for the mutual insults and pointed sarcasm, mixed with genuine support and encouragement. You don't have to be mad, but it helps.

NaNoWriMo is for anything. All you have to do is write 50,000 words during October and pass it through their word count system. (All? 50,000 words in a month is hard work!)

It doesn't have to be erotic - that's our Author's Hangout twist to NaNoWriMo.

It doesn't have to be coherent.

You don't have to share it with anyone. The NaNo system doesn't look at or store what you write.

You could write the 1700 words a day about anything. Each day could be on a different theme. The aim is to get 50,000 words somehow, any way you can.

Hints:

1. It is better to aim to complete 2,000 words a day. That gives you some slack if you have a Real Life interruption.

2. Don't edit as you write. That can be done after the end of October.

3. Join in with us, even if you are not writing erotica, because the cheerleading and the support from the rest of us make it more likely that you will finish.

4. Even if you don't finish the 50,000 you will have gained from the experience of writing to a deadline. You may also find that you are exploring stories you wouldn't normally try, just to get your word count up. Next year you may find that your NaNoWriMo pile is a great resource for developing other stories, or that you have exorcised some demons about writing 'trash'.

5. Let the words flow like a stream of consciousness when you can and keep typing. You might complete 5,000 words in one day and have writer's block for the next.

Good Luck.

Hi Innerdarkness!

You've already had some very good replies and I just want to add that your novel can be within any genre you wish. Og explained it all very well.

Have a look at the NaNoWriMo Forums, where you will see many different "Genre Lounges" and a lot of very good discussions on a variety of topics.

We just happen to be a group of erotica writers, who sign up individually, but support each other along the way. My novel last year wasn't an erotic novel, it was more horror/sci-fi with a healthy dose of sex scenes along the way. This year, however, it will be erotic, BDSM to be more precise.

It would be great to have you join us!

Lou :rose:

Tatelou (Lou for short) did a great job of cheerleading and encouragement last year.

Don't try to emulate what I did last year when I did NaNoWriMo for the first time - I published everything I wrote on Literotica as I finished each chapter. I had the whole 50,000 words posted here before the end of October. That made my task much more difficult than it needed to be. My 2003 NaNoWriMo opus is 'Flawed Red Silk'. Flawed it still is but I couldn't face returning to it to edit it into shape.

Set your goals and go for it. You'll enjoy it. Whether you finish the 50,000 or not doesn't matter. Taking part is worthwhile.

Og, you did a fantastic job!!! Huge kudos to you for doing it the way you did, that takes balls. ;)

Just one thing, you've said October twice now. NaNo takes place during November, the sign-ups being in October.

Not sure about 'takes balls' more like self-inflicted agony.

Put October down to a senior moment.

I know it's November. I just can't think about November yet because that is so close to the end of my bookselling career (my 3rd career).

I've just posted on the NaNo boards and bumped the thread we had going there last year in the Romance and Erotic Fiction Lounge.

Blimey, I'm getting all excited again!!!

A :nana: for NaNo. :D

Yeah, I knew you knew it was really. ;)

So sorry to hear about your bookshop, Og. :(

Damn Lou, I had to follow up on the link to the NaNo site. Now I'm all excited.

I know I shouldn't join in, but what the hell, I'll see how far I can go. I decided right now, I will take part this year.

:p

Ogg,

Sorry to hear you're closing down the shop. Is it a case of want to or have to?

:(
