NaNoWriMo 2005 - Join, write, be a novelist!

I can't post on the nano forum. Anyone willing to pm me and walk me through it?

I think it's down today, I could get to the forum, but if I clicked on a thread, I got a blank screen.

They may have it down to do all the updates for tonight - author excerpts, the word count thingy, etc.

Well, it's fast approaching that time of year again, when crazies all over the world sit down and pound out a novel, in one month.

What? I hear you cry! Ok, so it's not a long novel, but 50,000 words is a great target. By writing just under 2,000 words a day, you CAN write a novel in a month.

November is NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). For the two previous years I have done this, and produced some of the best stuff I've ever written (in my opinion), and a crowd here at the AH has joined me in both years.

It really is a sure-fire way to get you on the road to writing a novel. Some finish, others don't. Some blow the rest of us out of the water (Colly?), but others take a more steady-paced approach. ;)

It is NOT a competition, but merely a personal challenge, and one which I find very personally rewarding.

To find out more, go HERE

Interested? If so, let me know. I'm not sure if I can organise things here as I did the past two years (tables of progress, etc, etc), but time permitting, I will try.

The most important thing is to write, and enjoy writing! :)

Lou

So how do I get started doing this?
:)

go to www.nanowrimo.org, and sign up. It's really simple - you just choose a "handle" like you have here, a couple of quick questions on the profile, and that's it. I think most of us use the same name that we use here, with a couple of exceptions.

There's a forum for help of whatever kind you might need during the month, and this year, the moderators have designated "experts" in the Character & Plot Realism section on just about anything you can think of (I'm the designated native american expert ;) ).

You may be able to go ahead and register today, but the forums have been down all morning.

I just did it, God help me. I've written novels before but never in just a month, this could be quite interesting. And thanks so much for your help. :rose:

AHHHHHHHHHHHH! I'm ready to start writing ... itchin' to get started. My opening sentence has been echoing in my mind all damned day ... and I want to WRITE IT DOWN!

Tomorrow, the inspiration will be gone. I just know it.

"Faith! I know you're in there!" The door rattled against its loose hinges as another barrage of bangs was launched upon it. "Faith!"

3 hours to go.

There was a masochistic pleasure in watching those green-gray eyes begin to shimmer, pinking already with sudden tears gathering along the pale edges of the bottom lids, until the image dissolved in gray-white haze.

55 minutes til launch.

Not that I'm gonna. I have an exam on Thursday. So I might start after that.

Oh! Wait! That's not a Nano!

Here's a Nanomebbe:

"Summer homes seem to wait expectantly for families to fill them; if they sit too long without identity, then they become lost places, readily inhabited by passing ghosts."

Luck to us all! ;)

I've got one on Friday, AND I have to re-write my essay to get a higher grade. I'm still doing it.
And I'll do the counting, thank you very much! *grumpy*

YEah well, I'm stoopid, so I actually need to study now and then.

Flavia was psychic. Kind of. The trouble was that she had never really let herself tune into it and so now images came to her unbidden.
