Ah Seline, Seline by twelveoone had me googling for 15 minutes when I should have been studying. Keats lovers beware!!!

Vrose10 needs to watch her contusions in Enough Reason for a Horse. She excels at these short verses and this is a good one.

I LOVE the poem by bogusagain called if only. I think it is the way the poet speaks these thoughts of a forming experience is why it hit me.

And to top it all of (or perhaps bottom?--no way--not with this leading character) poet guy pushed out a nice little verse that I dug too called Yellow Peril. But I had to google again. You guys are making me work too hard to figure out what you are writing about.

Please poets, keep it coming. There are others I may have missed today. I'm not exactly practiced at this sort of thing, so just say these are the ones that affected me.

A quick recommend

virus_vector is either a new poet or someone's alter ego that I have missed. Could happen. Cause frankly, I don't pay attention.

Either way, worth checking out. Three poems today, of which Notes on the Word Virus is the odd one out. Witty, inspired and relaxed, where the other two are maybe trying a little too hard.




And then there's vrosej's The Dick Widow. Because, come on. The Dick Widow. Seriously.

Obviously (as from title)
Subtly as from how he gets from a perfectly odd word
dugongs
to such a perfectly ordinary word
buckets
even using a dreadful noun phrase
hoi polloi
without making it dreadful (it really adds something, strangely)
And the poem begins to work on you after you read it, that is something else, there is something else going on here.

Again, my opinion, but several caught my muse this morning.

lostchicken posted a couple of illustrated poems. I like the layout of both because the words are featured more than the pict. Out of the two, Where the Hell Did My Roof Go? presents a humorous take on a sad situation. You can't help but looking at the tragedy while reading the humor.

Fire by Tristisse2 is a nice little scene not overdone by a toasty fire. Senses are evoked in this verse.

These Burbling Meats by IrmaCerrutti made my skin crawl, which is what I think the poet intended. Sad incident and conditions bitterly told.

Koba, with Scratching Verse conveys those feelings that many of us often feel when the muse rears her head. I am enjoying this poet.

Noira, in My Secret Sin, presents a rhyming couplet with some good word usage. I mention her because I know this person as an author and think she has a poet's ear that can be developed into other forms of poetry. Give this new poet a read.

Hopefully, I did not mess anything up this time. I'm going to try and review each Thursday (although I do not know if there are any rules on this thread). It is when I have time.
