New Poetry Recommendations

It seemed to me the amount of good quality new poetry was exceptionally high today, so I'm recommending checking out the whole slate. Many more hits than misses to be found, unless I'm in an overly generous mood for some reason.

Autobiography by PoetGuy
This is possibly the best piece of rhyming poetry with serious intent I have seen in a long time. Cuddly Al and Cavul; this is how it’s done.

Whore Frost by Chipbutty
Nice short little work. Give it a look

Be it elfin poet, troll, or Ming
The Merciless, to map moods, to conflate
- PoetGuy
I yam what I yam- Popeye
with my disclaimers
another boring rhyming poem....
bycavu182
because it's not that bad
Singing with

Me and Bobby
Mcgee, you know,

the return
bybogusagain
I like him, this is an interesting style, but mainly because I identify with:
like an old Bolshevik, airbrushed out of history

as...well...was tried, by various factions

Gravity by NeonSubtlety

this grows on me with each read-through. i particularly enjoy the tactile nature of the imagery he uses.

do you know how people go on and on and you just wish it would end...
this is one of the few, that I wonder what would it be like, if it didn't end?
I think it is that good. Too short for an excerpt
Hell Conceived For Ballerinas.
byvrosej10

was I right?
another short, this might end exactly where it should, I'm not sure

byTristesse2
you won't be disappointed

I'm a fan of bogusagain so
nihilism
gets a recommend
for two reasons
it's a good rant
and it has a wonderful comment
that only I can leave, because I know there are a few here that are fans:rolleyes: liking them as much as they like my poetry:rolleyes:

So Swing On By

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

not sure what's happening at the moment, but the links to the submitted poems are bringing up a Bad Gateway notice. it's most likely a temporary glitch. i've just been able to access NP's via a different bookmark taking me to my page and from there to one of my poems and from there to NP's submitted.

i'll get back with some recoms shortly. :rose:

bogusagain's holy concierge- quite charming little scenario and the conceits made me smile. uh huh.

i absolutely have to re-recommend vrose's Hell Conceived for Ballerinas it switches up from tight focus to panoramic in the blink of a line... i wasn't too keen on the title at first, but it has grown on me, as uncompromising as the barre....

SweetOblivion's And With This Verse - marries form up with content pretty nicely, imo.

1201 -
what verse?
sigh. the verse the female is reading from the heart-breaker, silly

London Calling....

with a thread of blue

and the thunder clouds closed in.

UnderYourSpell
offers us a new form called a Giselle

must be one of those french forms I detest

when Paris in gay abandon

I gave it a five.

Cal. Y. has some bananna spilt thing but the comments turned off

Alright I'll do this straight, without gay abandon:rolleyes:
UnderYourSpell
offers us a Giselle

which does use "gay abandon" in an old fashioned way and has nothing to do with the Clash, but I won't hold it against her.

byUnderYourSpell
gets a trifecta of mentions
It haunts my dreams
there is something about this poem where it seems both to fall into place too easily, yet things are either missing or going in a different direction.

excerpt:
Droplets from the river's race
no longer brown, spun crystal stars
and looking up I saw the sky

of course it could be

More Than I (Probably) Think

bySweetOblivion

a nice excusion into libre

scattered, sewn, forgotten
bySeattleRain
excerpt:
we pour ourselves into piles of rubble
indistinguishable from common gravel

Aurora
byKoba
which looks like an excursion into prose poetry ala Rimbaud, excerpt:

The Arctic sky explodes in a fever of phosphorescent bursts which launch
radiant streams of green light whirling against the black canvass of space.

Tantalizing Touch
by let_u_touch_it
wait a second just think on that for a second
My arms held high
My legs are wide
There's nothing I can seem to hide

Is just incredible, thought so by not just me, but can it be sustained

I want you deep
Your cock inside
The pleasure I just cannot hide

You fuck me hard
You fuck me deep
Your cum inside I want to keep

No!, it is not fantastic. you lose whatever power and momentum you may have had by by inverting your syntax, which is a real no-no if porn poetry you want to write.

Blind as Gloucester
byAngeline
which dares to ask the question

Do you think sometimes
our Lord has a bit much
to drink

which may or may not have something to do with Vera Lynn, who most of you don't know, but the ending reminds me of.
of a voice that shouted
once upon some random,
sunny day.

an apartment poem
byseannelson©
The Last of the Modern Day Sin-eaters
bygreenmountaineer©
Both poems have a lot of information in them, seannelson uses it for an obvious impact in the last line. Of the two greenmountainee's is the more structured, and a little annoying as I don't know what some of these things are. Neither poem is happy, both are very good written by good consistent writers. Recommended.

Benko's Gambit
bySeattleRain

Today's gratitude:
grass worn to dirt under the swing set
and well-earned grit rinsed from the bottom
of the bathtub.

of which if I had a clue, I would tell you about, except for the reason that you can't paraphrase poetry, or so they say, so if I did know, I probably wouldn't recommend this as it is a mystery, and I like mysteries. And it has plenty of what the next poem lacks. Periods.

the game
bybogusagain©
which is both incessant and relentless in a rather enjoyable way, and curiously lacks a period, which seems to be a stylistic thing with Bog of late.

it had been a long time since I had been that young

these where scanned, not read, which means, I suppose I should read therm.

Today the gentlemen will have to concede they were bested by the ladies. Seattle Rain's Benko's Gambit is hard to fault at all.

I quibbled a bit with Angeline's Blind as Gloucester but it's so powerful it easily shakes off a minor quibble.

Chipbutty gets top marks for a killer line in Lost. I wish I hadn't said killer line.:)
