NFL Pick 'Em Pool 2010 is HERE!

I'm hoping the whiny bitch will mesh well with our prima donna

The prima donna has had a hard-on for the whiny bitch for a while now.

I predict big things on Monday Night and against the Packers with intermittent sleeping during entire quarters of games in between.

Week 5 Results:

1 - Daddy2 (via tiebreak) - 18 points
2 - Goodgirl - 18
T3 - Raw, shewolf, WD - 16
T6 - e-sub, Lizzie, MasterP, Shy, SW, Snowy - 14
12 - nax - 12
13 - cymbline - 6

This week's deadline, 12:59 p.m. ET Sunday. Don't expect any reminders, as I'm going to be on the road from early tomorrow morning until Saturday evening. And yes, I'm pissed about that, too.

Worst week ever!! Don't know if I should be embarrassed or angry

On the upside if you have the most losses on your picks in my football pool at work you don't pay into the pot the following week. That was me :D

So Favre sent Moss dick pics too?

Bad week for me last week... lets hope things pick up..

As usual, I will probably pick too many aways and it will screw up my score again, but we will see :)

I changed my pick to Atlanta. I think it's a sucker bet seeing the way they limp along but hey, 4-1, they have earned my support.

Remembered to get my picks in tonight despite my complete and utter exhaustion. I'm proud of myself. May not be proud of my selection skills after tomorrow, though.

I'm damn sure not proud of *last* week's picks! Five people beat me, and five people tied me, including one who was stuck with random picks!

Stupid Fox and my cable company are fighting so I won't be able to see the GMen play today.

Fucking greedy Fox.

Oh! Epic fail :(

So what's the dealio with the deadline being so late?

Are all the games on Sundays?

Games right now start at 1pm EST and then at 4pm EST on Sunday with one game being played at 8pm EST. Then there is Monday night football which is one game at 8pm EST.

Eventually there will be one game on Thursday nights 8pm EST and the rest on Sunday/Monday.

I'm in striking distance of the overall lead...

I'll be home watching the carnage this weekend.

Ahh, gotcha

I was wondering, because I got myself in a tizz on a Saturday and thought I'd missed picking, but it still had 2 days to go, which I thought was a bit much, even given the time differences.

Here, we have games Friday night, Saturday afternoon, sometimes Saturday Twilight, then Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.

Then there's special occasion games. There's always a game on Anzac Day, no matter what day that falls, so sometimes there's a mid week game, and then at Easter, because they don't play good Friday, they *will* play Monday, and then also the Queens Birthday Monday.

How do the tv networks decide what to televise if the bulk of the games are on at the same time?

It depends on where you live. Usually you get to see the game of the team whose home is closest to you.

However, there can be black-outs. For example if you live in San Diego you would normally be able to watch the San Diego Chargers. But if it is a home game and the stadium doesn't sell out then they black out the game to local viewers.

This never made sense to me. If they want to encourage loyalty to a team they need to first let the people watch them and get excited. Eventually they will get excited and go to a game (assuming they had the money).

Fortunately I live out in the woods so I get the games (but then my home team always sells out)

Ok that makes sense.

Here, the preference is to show Victorian teams games to Victoria, and interstate games to those cities. Because we have 10 teams in Melbourne though, they often have to pick the game tipped to be the best to show.

We don't get blackouts, but the telecast will often be delayed by an hour if it's not a sell out. Once it does sell out, sometimes it'll still be delayed, sometimes if it's a 'blockbuster' they'll bring the telecast forward. The tv network that has the football her knows they'll lose out if they don't move it, cos people will listen to the radio or check match progress online.

We have something similiar here. Friday night is when high school football is played and some Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon and night is for college football games. And then Sunday/Monday is for the NFL.

They set this up so nothing would overlap and take away from the others. That is why there are no Saturday or Friday night NFL games. They might not be allowed by rule, but I'm not 100% sure of that. (They sometimes have NFL games on a Saturday towards the end of the NFL season when college/high school football is over) They don't want people staying home to watch the NFL instead of going to high school/college games.

We have that too for Thanksgiving day. We used to have two games and now we have three games on that day.

As ES said, they show the game of the closest team to where you live. They also have a national game which will be shown if your local or closest team is not playing that week or after they have played if they play at 1pm. The national game is usually the best game between two teams with good records playing at either the 1pm or 4pm time slot.

But what if the team you follow is not the team that's nearest you?

You wouldn't get to see them much? I'm assuming unless you had pay tv, and that the sports channels there would eventually show all the games?
