The mysterious return of Zeus
Some here may remember we lost our orange-haired Hercules a few months back. It was a heartbreaking loss for us. Luna and Diana, his mom and grandma, drew closer as they shared the loss of his frisky play and those kisses he would lavish upon them while cuddling.
But then, a week later, out of no where, that orange stray we had seen near two years prior began to visit. This was the cat we had assumed to be Hercules' dad. He had shown up back then when Luna was in heat, she certainly had "eyes" for him. A few days later he left as abruptly as he had appeared. Soon Luna was showing signs of being pregnant.

Over the past few months Zeus has become a frequent visitor here. Strolling in at day-break, staying for an hour or two. Often taking guard on our front porch at night. Recently lingering during the day too. Luna and Diana have taken a liking to him. It's cute to watch them greet him first thing in the morning, taking turns rubbing noses before the three of them take perch on the porch together, sharing a lingering gaze at world waking up.
He seems a stray. At first he would run off if approached. Of course, being the softies we are for cats, we began to set out food and water for him. Over the past month he's come to let me pet him and finally brush him. He'll lay on his side and let me brush him out, for several minutes at a stretch now.
A few days ago he began to show interest in coming into our house. We're not sure if we'll let him, don't know if Luna and Diana would appreciate this. But we've all taking a liking to Zeus, this stray that seems to be called to fill a piece of what his son Hercules had brought into our home.
Glad to have a place to share this story.
