"On the Job" Story Event 2020

It will definitely be completely obviously consensual. And I was kind of wondering if the Mature audience wouldn't mind the BDSM elements.
What's the primary theme? The age difference, or the BDSM angle?

Sounds more BDSM to me, because the focus seems to be on the power play, not the age gap.

36 should be sufficiently mature and experienced enough to easily match a 51 year old man.

If you apply the "halve his age and add seven" rule, then 32 is supposedly the "ideal" age for the woman, with a 51 year old man.

I've started a story which is a spin-off of one I published. It's set on an oil rig.

I'm not quite sure what category it'll go in. Might be fetish, might be BDSM, might just be EC.

Wait and see I guess...

Question for the hive mind: the "On The Job" story is about a brief D/s relationship with no bondage or violence (a power of persuasion power exchange, if you will). The characters are a 36 year old female and a 51 year old male. Do you all think it'd be better received in Mature or BDSM?

Ok. I'm 12K words into it, and it's definitely a BDSM story. I'm going to keep the reference to the age difference, but it's not the main focus of the story. Though there is a mentor/mentee element.

So - HeyAll - put me in BDSM, for better or worse...
thx

HeyAll,

I've got a new story idea that I want to use for this event in place of my previous idea. It's in the interracial category, which I note to date has not yet been staked for this event. I've never written a story in that category and am looking forward to it. It's perfect for the event. So please update the list to reflect my new category.

Rules question. The story has to take place at work I understand Can the POV character remembers conversation that sets up the backstory that does not take place at work?

Sure, why not? The spirit of the story is the workplace. And it's unlikely to be rejected. lol

Hmm... I've nearly finished my April Fool story, but it does just happens to take place entirely in a workplace which is critical to the plot (it's called Gas Station Guy). I assume you can't use the same story in two contests?

I was thinking to put it in Erotic Couplings which seems to be a catch-all section with people who read the descriptions. The tagline would be roughly "Gay man mistakes her for male" .

I'm assuming one half the pair being a woman wouldn't go well in Gay Male, he's a virgin but the story is her POV and its not sweet or innocent so not First Time...

I'd hold it for the April's Fool contest, which is a contest with a prize attached. The On the Job event is an event not a contest, with no bucks attached.

And no, you can't enter the same story into two contests.

I'd think again about your tag line. Unfortunately, anything gay outside the GM category tends to be in for a rough ride. It's a neat idea, but that tag line also spoils the "fool's" twist.

Thanks both.
Will save for April. Apart from anything else it's got a bit long and needs a good edit to avoid being yet another 'he did x, she did y, he did z, aah, ooh, moan, cum' list.

The story foreshadows the mistake really obviously, then we have the big moment of embarrassment, then most of the story is 'they improvise'. It's more of a Chekhov's gun than a spoiler to say her friend had made her buy a strap-on to make sure she's ready when she finds a new girlfriend after a messy break-up.

Like most of my stories, it could really do with a 'Queer as Fuck' category, or 'Bisexual' as has been suggested, but we have to cope. My story in EC taglined 'Four bisexuals get very drunk' did very well with no complaints, whereas trying to warn upfront of the existence of a bisexual man in a BDSM story resulted in some instant 1-stars (I was so proud!)

Peril of working on multiple stories at once. I was in a panic because my calendar reminded me that the 'On the Job" submission was due February 13th .

Boy was I glad to see this! :)

Date:

April 13, Monday

(submit in the 3 days prior for a timely pre-approval!)

I'm in!

I took a shot at writing this last year and I was in a bad life spot that led me away from creation.

I'll participate this year and I'm going with some Erotic Coupling, straight forward as a category but outside my wheelhouse.

Have fun, everyone! Thanks for having me.

I know I'm late to this, but; If there's no actual bondage and/or BDSM action/accouterments — this sounds much more like "reluctance" or "coercion" (initial non-consent that leads to consent, etc.). You may mislead some readers looking for BDSM activities and pay a price in the vote from one or a few of them. Just FYI.

I’m late to respond, but I’d like to participate. I am still trying to figure out the category. Thanks for organizing this, HeyAll!

No. There's no initial reluctance or nonconsent. There's no coercion.
It'll be obvious when you read it (if you choose to).

Just didn't want you to make a boo-boo putting it in BDSM w/o any BDSM happening ~ :rose:

BDSM doesn't require ropes, chains, whips or paddles.
This very much a D/s story.
Trust me (check out my stories and you'll get a sense that I'm familiar with the genre).
But I appreciate you lookin' out for me. :rose::heart::rose:

You're right about this. The key to bdsm isn't the toys. It's the D/s element. If you have that you do not need to worry about the rest. My only BDSM story so far did very well without anything but light dominance-submission play.

There are grown-up readers in that category, and from what I've seen, very tolerant of others' kinks. I don't think your material would spook the kittens, Belle. The category police dwell elsewhere, I reckon.

I’ve waited, and I’m shelving the idea for this year. Other stories have demanded attention.

Don’t you hate it when that happens?

Let's rock!

Okay, I'll bite. I don't know how these things work but I'll throw my hat in the ring if y'all still have openings. I noticed that nobody chose the "First Time" category, and I think that's one of my stronger categories. I'll take that as my first choice. "Mature" would be my second choice. I'll check back occasionally to see if I've been added to the list.
