R.I.P Liam Rector

On L Rector

i didn't know you,
and yet i feel your loss
keenly, the words you leave behind
are the fence

i now strive to write,
to string together those barbs
so they will snag my skin
as i climb them.

i am sorry for your loss
for my loss; i know
i would have worked hard
to break that wired barrier before

now. i devour your poetry
those rustic words you saw fit
to place on pages, black words
filling coveted white spaces.

i raise my glass and salute you,
rest in peace, poet
while i change the rotten battens
of my boundary.

:rose:

poignant poem, that first one TRM. thank you for sharing this poet. i hadn't heard of him until today. :rose:
