Rambling Rosie's Retreat

Morning all. Happy bonfire night... well..... day at the moment obvs
Are you going to a bonfire later?
The village doesn't do one which is a shame. Where I grew up all the local streets would work together to build a massive one in a field and it used to be a real community event.
I think people prefer the professional firework displays now

I’ve seen this in a Midsommer Murders episode

No.... sadly there not a community thing any more. We used to do the same as you when we were kids. Was one of the main events and highlights of the year.

It is Election Day here, so no bonfires, but in Portland at least, riots are possible. Gah, there is a reason I stay out of politics now.

However, I have my own Bonfire Night tradition. Attack the Block watch party.

I am thinking of all of you over there today.

Haven't seen Attack The Block in ages. I've been wondering whether my son is old enough for V For Vendetta. It would actually be educational too because he's learning about dystopia at school. So far we've watched Hunger Games, Divergent, The Purge...

Well Bonfire Night is off to a flyer here.

I don't want to be a killjoy but after having three dogs, each of them absolutely terrified by fireworks, I no longer enjoy them.
Yeah my dog is really anxious. I'm hoping all will be quiet here tonight. No one in the village let any fireworks off over the weekend so hopefully we'll be ok.
It's so selfish too because quiet fireworks still look just as good

I've got 25pounds to spend on my tea - but I'm collapsed on my hotel bed knackered
