Runners unite?

What a wonderful combination! I have been a runner since high school, mostly middle distance events then, and longer races now as i have gotten older. I always run in just shorts and shoes, its about as close as a closet exhibitionist can get to public nudity. I love it, i stay fit and get a sexual kick out of it. I always seem to be ready to go right after a good run.

Anyone else like that?

This thread got quiet! Did my 4th half today. Not a great time for me. 2:13. The humidity was BRUTAL

12 miles today! That makes 25+ in the past 3 days! 2 months and 1 day until my first marathon!

Currently training for another half marathon. Hoping to finally break 1:30

Training for the OBX marathon in Nov. Starting to get 'runners knee' so it kinda sucks. But I can't give up now that I got my mind set on it

14 miles today! Passed 100 for the month and still looking to get in 5 tomorrow!
That's a great effort! Don't overdo it, though. :)

in the process of training to run my first race, been wanting to do it for so long
Well done! I remember my feelings of excitement as I prepared for my first proper race. I've never lost that sense of positive anticipation; you're likely to experience similar positive motivational kicks prior to future races, and possibly an even greater drive as you seek to improve on your first effort. Try to enjoy it all, and good luck! :)

What distance is your race, and how soon is it?

First park run in ages yesterday. Was really chuffed with my time, thought I had PBed. Then went to the website, realised it was my slowest ever :D ah well

Well I have a few 5ks that I'm signed up for to just get used to running an actual race and not just running for fun. I know a 5k isnt much but I just want to start off real easy and then work my way up. I'd love to be able to do a half.

That's great! My first race was 5km a few years ago, and I've gradually worked up from there to half-marathons. The most difficult step is to get started; from then on, adding each extra mile gets easier. Have fun! :D

I just hot 1000 miles on the mapmyrun app. I've done 5 halfs and am now training for my first full marathon. But I am now starting to get 'runners knee'.

It sucks, but I've come to love running and I can't wait for my marathon in the outerbanks !!

Wow... 1000 miles on one app! I've estimated that I have run 2000-3000 miles over the last few years, but most of those weren't recorded on any device.

I empathise with you! I was hampered for a year by a knee problem (probably a ligament injury). Fortunately, I was able to continue running through it with care (including a half-marathon) and it gradually faded away. Good luck with the marathon! :)

Be proactive by strengthening your legs & lower body.

I returned to running this summer after a 16 year hiatus. I am doing the Couch to 10 program and I am currently up to 3.5 miles per run. I am still a bit of a slow runner, but I'm happy with my progress. My first 5k is on the 26th of this month and I am both nervous and excited.

Missed parkrun this morning. Getting to quite like the 5k element. And found a "clothing optional" 5km in UK. Not til July tho. So time to build up my bravery :)

2nd half marathon of the year tomorrow!
Good luck! I need to start thinking about my next one now that the season is picking up again after the summer.

I often wonder whether I've unknowingly been running with other Litsters. It's probably unlikely given our geographical diversity, but I participate in quite a few events, and I imagine that a significant proportion of other Litsters enjoy a regular work-out (not just in the bedroom!). :D
