Sarah Palin

Just had a random thought.

How long until Hustler makes the follow-up to Nailin Palin?

Palin Meets Joe the Plumber.

It is sad, and extremely illegal. Nobody could support actions like this. At the same time, it is not the fault of McCain or most of his supporters. You can hardly complain when a candidate calls attention to the opposition signing up hundreds of thousands of bogus registrants. And, yes, I do consider ACORN to be in opposition to McCain/Palin. I expect they are encouraging their minions to sign up Democrats, rather than Republicans. They are also encouraging them to sign up as many as they can, and don't seem to care much about their validity.

Oh, Pleeezzzeee. The contractors did it for money. It wasn't political. There is, of course, some of it going on for political purposes--and has been going on back into the Jeffersonian era (even before that Washington had beer barrel parties at Mount Vernon, and when the guys got liquored up, he had them ridden to the polling stations--sometimes more than once). But it's done by all sides. No it shouldn't be done. Yes, efforts are ongoing to keep it to a minimum by all sides.

ACORN isn't the only voter registration program tainted with this. And those doing it as contractors for ACORN--and other programs--were/are doing it for money. And just to get registrations. They don't do anything clever enough to end up with a real vote.

Don't you listen to anything or make any attempt at all to look at anything objectively? Nothing at all????

Oh, pleezzeeeee.

Box, where the fuck do you get your numbers from? Do you just make them up or what? Jesus dude!

When I say ACORN encourages it, I mean they pay per registration sheet. Do they make any effort to determine the validity of the individual sheets? I mean, when some guy turns in twenty sheets, does ACORN look to see if the names or the addresse are different? If not, they are encouraging fraud.

As for where I get the numbers, google ACORN or "New Registrations" as I did, and you will get plenty of info.

ACORN may not be the only program, but they are probably better funded than any others. The DNC would see to that, and they persuade local governments to contribure also.

You know, it doesn't matter how much of this crap you shovel in the next 18 days. There is going to be an election, and, with each passing day, the McCain campaign is going lose progressively more votes, because people just aren't really this dumb or gullible.

And many of us have had enough of this stuff.

OK, I'll try to make this simple for you, Box, because you have such a problem focusing:

Registration isn't what matters; cast ballots are what matter.

Explain to me the DNC reasoning for getting 200,000 names registered as Democratic voters in, say, Ohio, under the names of Dallas Cowboy linemen.

If there isn't a body going to the poll attached to each of these bogus registratons, where is the payoff for the DNC to do this?

Having a preponderant number of registrations for one party over the other in a state doesn't work in the favor of the party with the larger represented number of voters. It encourages the underdog party to get their vote out and it makes the voters representing the larger group complaisant.

Explain again how this works out as a DNC plot.

Registration isn't what matters; cast ballots are what matter.

Registration isn't what matters; cast ballots are what matter.

I am aware of that last part, and I have said so several times. However, some of the bogus registrations may be accepted, and that is what ACORN and the DNC are hoping. I would not call it a DNC plot. I would say that the DNC helps ACORN in their efforts to register voters, and that they know ACORN concentrates their efforts in places where the Dems are in the majority. They also would be aware that some of the registrations are phonus balonus.

There are two problems with this: the first is that in many states, all registration sheets BY LAW must be turned in to that state's election committee. That makes it up to the state, and not ACORN, to verify the validity of each registration. It doesn't matter whether or not ACORN verifies them themselves in these states since they still have to be turned in, legit or not.

The second is that the poor and minorities typically register Democrat, and are also typically the largest groups that are disqualified by their states from voting. That would be why groups like ACORN tend to target these people. Yeah it might appear that ACORN is trying to tip elections in favor of the Democrats by focusing on them, because if all these people were legitimately registered and actually went and voted they'd likely vote Democrat. But by disqualifying many of them on questionable grounds (which DOES happen often enough to be an issue), doesn't THAT appear to be attempting to tip the scale in favor of the Republicans?

I'm unsure what you mean by "questionable grounds." If the registrants don't live where they say they do, or if they are actually under 18, and won't reach that age by election day, or if they are already registered elsewhere, those would be valid grounds. Or, if there are two registration sheets for the same person at the same address, that would be valid.

In Ohio, the secretary of state, a Dem., is trying to keep the local election boards from doing their job.

Okay, here is a questionable reason, and it's in Ohio:

Here is something to show how neutral the Secty of state is:

I made the decision to turn the ignore off for Box and then made the mistake of reading a few more of his ridiculous, ill-informed, blatently anti-Obama post.

My head is spinning, I want to throw something at the screen.

I don't understand how anyone of any reasonable, even average intelligence, can spout garbage like this? How? And when he lives in the country where the election is taking place?

If this is how one ill-informed voter can behave, then ye gods, no wonder there are crowds of palin minions baying for the blood and life of someone who has been portrayed to them as something he is not.

For a little while, a very few minutes, many weeks back, I had real hope for the election. As soon as Palin came on the scene, opened her mouth and revealed the narrow minded, bigoted, racist, separatist, person she really is, all that hope went out the window.

No matter who my choice would have been (and that's personal), at that point, the only sensible, realistic, hopeful vote has to go for Obama. If not, then god help America, god help us all.

And now I'm putting Box back on ignore, because I can't take his stupid, blinkered crap any more.

My Queen, I also hoped for an election with a valid discussion about issues and direction. It hasn't happened, and I hate that it hasn't. Mind you, I feel that a campaign about issues favors my candidate, so I am not un-biased.

However, I still have hope that a resounding defeat for a man I once admired may set a precedent where pundits fear going to these extremes. For the first time in recent American politics, the negativity is turning and biting the purveyor on the ass.

One can only hope this changes things.

Can you be a little more specific as to the posts you mean? If you are referring to the one just before your post, I have facts to back up my statements.

You refer to Sarah Palin as racist and separatist. Can you show me where she has shown herself to merit those epithets?

It could be the racist remark is in regard to the video of the Palin rally where an audience member shouts "kill him" (Obama) and she ignores it rather than telling the heckler to shut up as McCain has been doing for the last couple of days.

The separatist remark is in regard to Palin's association with the separatist group in Alaska. It's not like Palin didn't know what she was getting in to when she went to do a speaking engagement for the group. Contrary to Bill Ayers, Palin's separatist group was up front about their leanings, while the 'evil' Bill Ayers was a changed man, having become citizen of the year and all that happy horseshit.

I think it's your inability to acknowledge these events that is so frustrating to some of the folks around here. It's as if you're living in an alternate reality where only Obama and the Ds have faults, and Palin and McCain don't.

Granted, we all view reality through the filters of our ideology, but when our ideology forces us to ignore reality completely, and yet we're going to go out and vote basing our choices on this fake realty, it puts into question the viability of the very democracy we're supposed to be supporting.

It's this kind of reckless ignorance that gets some of us liberal patriots all riled up, watching our country swirling down the drain - all because Karl Rove is so good at what he does. If there was any justice in this world, he would end up in jail right alongside Bush and Cheney.

A book for you: Hubris. It's been out for a couple of years now. It's a chronicle of all the stuff that will likely get GWB thrown in the slammer. This might be just what you need to make you realize how you've been manipulated by the evil-doers currently running this country.

Peace, my friend.

And THAT'S why she put you back on ignore.

And me, too.

Just like mat, I tried reading more posts, even responded a few times.

But Box? Your blatant disregard of any facts that are pro-Obama/Biden or anti-McCain/Palin are absolutely maddening.

How many more of you are there in the U.S.? Scares the hell out of me.

Which is why the Republicans try to disenfranchise ACTUAL voters, instead of working on registering POTENTIAL voters, like the Dems do.

(i.e. Ohio. Florida. And those are only the recent ones.)

Paranoid?

(1) Republican agents go to work for Acorn before the election and submit phony voter registration forms, which poison huge chunks of legitimate democratic registration forms

(2) Shortly before the election, the phonies are announced, throwing huge chunks of democratic registrations into dispute

(3) Republicans challenge validity of democratic registrations

(4) Legitimate registered democrats are held up in courts and not allowed to vote in election because they're contaminated with phony Acorn registrations

Maybe I'm paranoid, but tell me the republicans aren't sowing the seeds for charges of massive vote fraud in the election.

Let's remember that many of the Attorneys General that Alberto Gonzalez wanted to fire were fired for not instigating investigations of phony vote fraud charges in elections won by Democrats. So the Republicans have used the phony vote fraud tactic before.

Alaskan Independence Party

Some quick quotes from Joe Vogler, Founder of the AIP:

"The founder of the Alaska Independence Party -- a group that has been courted over the years by Sarah Palin, and one her husband was a member of for roughly seven years -- once professed his "hatred for the American government" and cursed the American flag as a "damn flag."

The AIP founder, Joe Vogler, made the comments in 1991, in an interview that's now housed at the Oral History Program in the Rasmuson Library at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.

"The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government," Vogler said in the interview, in which he talked extensively about his desire for Alaskan secession, the key goal of the AIP.

"And I won't be buried under their damn flag," Vogler continued in the interview, which also touched on his disappointment with the American judicial system. "I'll be buried in Dawson. And when Alaska is an independent nation they can bring my bones home."
==================

Vogler's bones were just recently discovered in a gravel pit west of Fairbanks wrapped in a blue tarp and duct tape. He was murdered as he was trying to buy some plastic explosives. The article is here.

I guess we can stop talking about William Ayers now, huh?

But Obama (or Biden) won't stand up there and say, "Sarah Palin pals around with terrorists."

There's the difference.
