Sex & Shenanigans

Back to Thanksgiving food.

what is your LEAST favourite Thanksgiving food item?
The part where Aunt Gertie brings in a pot of baked apples or quinoa casserole she is sure everyone is gonna love because she loves that stuff.

I know I know, summa you you gonna be 'I wuv dat sheet' I don't care. The woman never asked or cared, she just brought it. I was somewhat less than thankful.

But if you are talking about traditional turkey days dishes, fuck that greenbean casserole. Looks like someone vomited in a bowl full of canned green beans and said enjoy.

Library of Congress:

Yams are a monocot (a plant having one embryonic seed leaf) and from the Dioscoreaceae or Yam family. Sweet Potatoes, often called 'yams', are a dicot (a plant having two embryonic seed leaves) and are from the Convolvulacea or morning glory family.

Yam - root with less sugar

Sweet potato - tuber with more sugar and vitamin C
Meh…different animal (so to speak), but similarly yucky!

My brother-in-law is a firm believer that cranberry sauce needs to be a cylinder and have the marks of the can still on it.

I make mine from scratch as well, as I do not like the canned fruit coagulate, myself.
Different animal, but both delicious!

Baked apples, when properly spiced, are just like apple pie filling!

So you’re the second person to mention green bean casserole, and while I hate hate hate it when made the traditional way with cream of mushroom soup, it’s actually not too bad when made with cream of chicken soup. I don’t love green beans in general and canned green beans always have a metallic taste to me, but my preference is fresh green beans fried with a seasoned batter and dipping sauce. Garlicky braised green beans like they have in certain Chinese restaurants are amazing too, but haven’t come across them on a Thanksgiving table.

Side note: thought of another least favorite Thanksgiving food: stuffing/dressing with RAISINS! Raisins aren’t good in anything, but two places that they should never be are potato salad and stuffing/dressing! 🤬

Yea, and nobody just says, "you know what? Ima eat just apple pie filling."

Raisins and lemon peel and cinnamon sticks submerged in brandy in a dark place about 6months....I can't spell the Dutch word for Bride's tears but in English it translates into tiny balls of good for whatever ails ya
The brandy … not the raisins.
