Sex & Shenanigans

So being as it’s Thanksgiving this weekend .., what is a better accoutrement to Turkey …

Gravy.
Cranberries
Both.
Gravy. Both because it's delicious, and it goes so well on so many other things. The potatoes, the stuffing, the biscuits, the apple pie...

Also … what is a bigger red flag …

someone who doesn’t like dogs
someone who doesn’t like cats
My oldest son does NOT like dogs. And I would definitely not date him. So I guess that's my answer.

It's nice to see Canadians still observing Thanksgiving. Around here it's Fourth of July - not Indepence Day like we aren't independent on the 3rd or 5th then Halloween for 3 months then Christmas until July then repeat.

That’s a fair answer to not liking dogs…

But we’re skipping past the critical comment here.. apple pie??

Thanksgiving > Halloween

I probably should have put this in the controversial opinions thread 😬

Yummy food vs candy and scary decorations?

Hmmmm… that’s a tough one for me.

I mean, Thanksgiving is more special cuz it’s only one day whereas you can “celebrate” Halloween for a whole month.

Except when you’re this wrong 🤣

I kid I kid. I get it, especially if you’re not a horror person.

I like the idea of being thankful, but celebrating colonialism can jump in a lake.
Do you think we can celebrate a holiday without the historical context of it?

Like I celebrate Christmas… I’m not Christian.

While colonialism is horrid … and especially where I’m from as there was never a treaty between the indigenous people and the land was just flat out stolen…

But Thanksgiving … imo … can be a holiday to recognize our privilege and remember and respect the history … while being thankful for all we have … friends, family, health, etc … whatever it is.

Who is celebrating colonialism??

Like, I know the origins, but I think we have successfully reclaimed thanksgiving for the food and the fellowship and the autumn vibes.
Agreed, I think each family defines the day as they want to. With my crew, we toast and eat to being healthy, all the good fortune we have in our lives and how lucky we are to be loved.

We completely ignore the fact that in 1620, a group of religious oppressors lost their license to oppress people in England and so ran away and would have starved if not for the kindness of the original residents of that land.

You’ve loved a dog, no? So it’s not complete apathy. Just lack of pet enthusiasm, perhaps?
I have loved a few dogs. And I will concede that I’ve never met a Bernese mountain dog that I didn’t want to hug like a teddy bear.
And I’ve loved a few cats, too.

But if you asked me if I like cats or dogs I’d say… meh 🤷🏼‍♀️

However, yeah, I do think the concept of pets it’s kinda weird to begin with, tbh.

I certainly think individuals can and do and was not calling anyone out in particular.

I think the larger culture still recognizes it as a pro-colonialism holiday though. Folks still celebrate Columbus Day too even with a full on rebrand.
