It's truly amazing that Commanders is the best they could come up with. And yeah, it's Handmaid's Taley and weird

The Redskins name was so controversal for so long and I think everyone knew it was going to have to change at some point. From a business perspective, how did you not have something better workshopped for years and ready to go???

The Handmaid's Tale eventaully got a little too absurd for me, but man was the first season or 2 amazing (I was lazy and did not read the book)

I am pretty sure that whoever came up with that idea didn't watch The Handmaiden's Tale and say, "Oh, that's a good one."

I really think they missed a huge chance by not going with Redtails. Historical reference, visually solid, tied tenuously back to the original, and would be a huge call-out to an incredible, brave, amazing, and historic part of American History that is directly about a marginalized group. I hate the Washington teams, but I would have bought the hell out of that merchandise.

Right, I don't know it Redtails would be the best answer, but man they weren't working on something better than Commanders

I never thought of it in terms of absurdity, but an an extreme religious idea taken to an extreme endpoint. I guess that's absurdity, just not the light and fun absurdity I generally use the word for
