Because they’re savage and destructive.
I once came home at 2 am in summer and realized I forgot to close up my chickens.
It was a bloodbath. Six of my fourteen chickens were dead, two dragged off outside to be eaten based on blood trails, raccoon fur in the main puddles where they fought.
Two more were so ripped up I had to put them out of their misery.

Raccoons end up trapped, humanely disposed of, and fed to the coyotes in this wolf’s woods.
