so i finally saw secretary

Perhaps it's just me, but I went alone to Blockbuster to rent it. I felt sort of sneaky and sexy taking it off the shelf in my small Midwest town. I knew what my dark secret was that I was renting this film and couldn't help but wonder what the guy behind the counter might think of the people renting it. I watched it twice that night. I enjoyed it and I must say I wasn't upset by her being "cured" by BDSM. I thought it was more symbolic that she had a past hurt or a need that being submissive was able to heal/make right.

I also watched the film with a ... dang it I'm not sure what to call him ... exploratory master friend ... and that was a good fun erotic time. :) I recoomend the film highly.

And I agree with Etoile ... the scene at the end with the tree was highly erotic, I only wish it could have lasted a few seconds longer.

Okay, I just finished watching this movie on one of our premium movie channels. I have to say I didn't find it all that wonderful. The Spader character just annoyed me, but that's just me, I like an extremely strong, confident dominant. I am hoping people who watch this movie don't get the impression that we submissives have some sort of sordid past we have dealt with that led us to be where we are. I did, however, relate to the woman quite a bit from that first smack on her behind and then the walk down the garden path to her natural tendencies. The way she just sat at that desk near the end, I found that priceless.

i havent seen the movie

My girlfriend's mom finally saw Secretary last week. She thought it was funny. Did anybody else see the movie as a comedy? I didn't.

Yeah, I did. Well, up until about half way and then became utterly bored with the whole thing. (Never can figure out how I finished watching it, but I did) Anyway, I actually thought there was a lot of comedy in it, and did quite a bit of laughing at the beginning. Towards the end it seemed as if there was attempts at humor but they fell far short of the mark. Or I was just too bored to be interested.

I've tried to watch it 3 times now and like SexyChele became so bored it didn't happen. I guess I wil give it another go to see what it is I might be missing, but to date I haven't found it riviting material, except to get a glimpse of JS. From what I saw, I thought it was playing too much on the poor, weak, damaged submissive waiting for a dominant to come set her life right which is a concept I cannot buy into.

I just watched it tonight on Cinemax. I really enjoyed it. And I do agree, James Spader is a hottie. I remember watching "Bad Influence" with him and Rob Lowe when I was younger. I had a Rob Lowe obsession at the time. It's just something about his facial expressions. I did not like him in "Pretty in Pink" though.

My favorite part was when she was at the copier and he walked by and said something like "good work on the letter" and she got the biggest smile. That part really resonated with me.

And as for a comedy, no I didn't think of it as a comedy. But then again, I was looking at it from a BDSM viewpoint. I suppose people who aren't into BDSM may think its amusing, they way both of them are acting. And there were parts that I could see being slightly humorous (like when they are reporting from outside of the office about her "hunger strike").

I think I may just have to buy the DVD to see the director's commentary. Does anyone know if there were any deleted scenes on the DVD? (That is my favorite part of any DVD).

Oh, I also like it because my name is Leigh (even though hers is spelled Lee). It was sorta like James Spader was talking to me

that's certainly how i want my honeymoon to be!

if I was your new hubby, you would never get outside.....

The girl who plays Lee is in a Julia Roberts movie coming out soon - I forget the name of it. But I think it might be worth seeing ... it isn't related to bdsm though.

I though Maggie g was way too thin...the ribcage poking out ruined the final nude scees for me...but her face is gorgeous.

Secretary

Master and I watched this movie together and we both enjoyed it. Some of the scenes in the begining were quit funny, the look on her face when he first spanks her is priceless. I did get frustrated with Spader's character; but he redeemed himself at the end..... It is definately a movie I wouldn't mind owning.

I liked it. Could sit through it again. I especially liked the scene where the boyfriend was trying to convince her to move and she said something like " because I dont want to". Very empowering as a sub to think that way. I too am concerned that a lot of vanilla folk will make the assumption that all submissives have self harm tendencies tho. My own masochism has no links to self harm and I found that quite disconcerting, although I can see the theraputic value under those circumstances. A need was satisfied.Hope there isnt a rush of selfharmers looking for sadists to "cure them".

Movie

I have been dying to see this movie. The real question becomes how do i watch it with the wife and kids around all the time? LOL Gonna have to rnet a motel room just to watch a movie. Now how weird would that be!!!!!

Yes, watch it with your wife...see what happens...you never know....

Wife

Been there, done that. Have made multiple suggestions and hints but have definitely been told that is not for her. Looks like the motel room is getting closer and closer. Any female sub wish to join me? LOL Gotta keep the dream alive. :)

i loved the movie, too...the bath scene was so incredibly romantic, and the tree...mmmm

i had a problem with people in the lifestyle were portrayed...

I loved this movie. The end was just beautiful. I can't imagine even a vanilla woman not wanting to be bathed, her hair washed. I thought it was wonderful.

I could assure you a very explicit sort of sordid future. Sunflowers stand tall for a while, but they eventually must fall, with time.

I would be there when you fall and take advantage of your weakness to capture you and make you do nasty little evils for me. And, if you refuse to do thoae nasty little evils? I have devious ways to encourage you. :D

Like it or not?

I was asked to watch it by a Dom who didn't give me an opinion one way or the other so that I wouldn't be influenced by His. I watched the whole thing, but found myself losing interest throughout, with periods of "pay attention" mixed in. I found it pretty frustrating as wel, prefer a Dominant to be just that (firm in His convictions). Lee seemed adrift in a sea, floundering around until someone "saved" her. Spanking her own ass i n the bathroom had to be a hard scene for her to film as an actress, but again, it did nothing for me except cause me to shake my head. Ah well... perhaps i failed to see the intellectually hidden aspects of it.

Now... if you were to ask about "The Pillow Book"....

I think the movie was overdramatized on purpose...it was real funny to me looking it as an overdramatization of the real deal...maybe thats what the person who wrote it felt they needed to do to get the point across?
