Good morning all. *starts coffee*

It is the morning after Independence Day. I am barely up and ready for a shop day.
I hope everyone enjoyed their 4th wherever you are and wherever you celebrate. :)

I am so very glad you got me to brew some coffee to ice down here.
I already got into it!!

<groans> I survived the 4th of July events.

I actually ended up walking more yesterday then even before the surgery 2 years ago. Since I live so close to the village it made more since to walk yesterday even in the heat. First was a walk to the library and then help the cemetery girls decorate the tow trucks to ride in the parade. You DO NOT want to know how they got me up on the flat bed to ride!! I'm just glad no one had a camera handy to document that!!!!

After the parade I ended up working in the first responders command center at the casino then actually watched the fireworks from the casino dock. I'd never been down in the village before to see the fireworks in the 27 years I've lived here. The old house had a Florida room that faced down that way so I could stay home and see the fireworks with out dealing with the crowds. I even ended up walking home with my new family. I'm a little tight and sore leg wise this morning but I DID IT!!!

assisted living private homes with less then 6 patients in out area.
striking our so far but only been digging for a few hours so far.

I'm so-so about the entire pod coffee thing, I've used Kurig's and a knock off. I might be old fashioned but I prefer fresh coffee from a Bunn or using a Melitta drip filter. But if you've never tried cold brewed coffee before you should give it a try, it's great. Supper easy to do, place in a sealed jar when finished and heated later. Just remember its a coffee concentrate.

I did not know you had a thread too. Oh look and all of my cool friends are here too. Hi everybody!! Pass the chips n dips!!

ok I want to try & make some cold brew coffee.
I usually drink Cuban expresso grind that I brew in my little 4 cup Mr. Coffee.
Is there a way to make it or a place for me to look to for directions??

Just google it but essentially put the fresh coffee grounds in a bowl full of water and allow it to sit for about six hours. You just need to add more extra coffee grounds because you are making a concentrated base. If you have a quart or a half gallon mason jar you can just place the whole thing in the refrigerator. Pour the finished coffee through a filter to trap the grounds while transferring it to another sealable container.

I can do that easily. I have a couple gallon & half gallon glass pickle jars here. I keep them just incase since they are hard to find when you don't have them & need one. I never learned to drink coffee until I moved here & then it was the heavy strong tar a road with it Cuban stuff with cream & sweet stuff in it.

This works best with a strong Arabica coffee grounds but its been done around the world with other coffee bean blends. A lot of the coffee shops use a cold brewed coffee base that they steam heat and add expresso and such to it.

I used to buy all sorts of coffee when I was Ms. Professional. Then I was in a hurry & grabbed a cheap Cuban espresso grind in for an event. Then suddenly I had all sorts of comments on how much the coffee snobs like the coffee. So I stopped spending extra money for coffee and stayed with the $3 a brick stuff since then.

That's kind of what I found out myself. The Cuban coffee grounds produce good results, are easy to find at the store and you can adjust the grounds to water to suit your own taste.

I was reading a few recipes but I think I am going to go with what you suggested. I can just pop the half gal in the fridge to soak and not worry about it expect for pouring thru a filter later.

Have you tried adding in anything like cinnamon sticks or vanilla bean?
Or is that a don't go there & keep it for your creamer???

I would only add any flavorings to cold brewed coffee when it was served. Sun brewed tea is another story as it really does well with something like that.
