What was it about?
My first, The Dance , was more of a romance than what I've been writing since then. Not as graphic.

Was it any good or just mediocre?
I don't think it was that bad. It definately could have been better but it was a great building block for future writing.

Was it accepted right away?
Yes

Do you still get back to reading it?
Sometimes. I usually only go back to that one when I'm feeling like I have no talent and am stuck on a story that I am working on. Then I'll look at some of the better pieces I've turned out and compare and see how far I've actually come since that first piece.

Do you see how your writing has evolved since then?

Absolutely, and this place has helped me tremendously. The people and thier constructive criticism have helped me so much. The objective eye has been a god send for me.

Funny, but I thought my first story here was “Morzhay Cosmetics” but checking now I see it was “Hard-Boiled Dick”, posted 10/14/02 where I inroduced Matt Danger, Bondage Detective, and character who’s still dear to my heart.

I think it’s still good. It’s got about 16,000 views and 65 votes for a 4.71. There’s no plot, just a kind of tongue-in-cheek sex scene riff on “The Maltese Falcon”. I don’t think my style has changed all that much since then, just kind of gotten more like it was, if you know what I mean. I’m more into my caharacters’ psychology now, but I still like the sex to be hot and graphic and over-the-top. I think if I were to write the story fresh today it would still come out pretty much the same.

I’d been writing my own porn since before Lit, though. Kind of a masturbatory thing, and my first stories were things that I already had on my computer.

Like Dr. M, I've been writing my own porn for ... many years. My first story for Lit (and my only story posted thus far--"Cindy: The Professor's Bane") was written specifically for Lit, and it was the first story I wrote for an audience in mind other than myself. I posted the first three chapters before the SDC got a hold of the story, and after that I did a complete revision on what I'd posted so far and then finished off the story with the final two chapters.

The story took six months to write, and includes content that will not be appealing to some readers (femdom, and humiliation), but I think I did the best job I could with the story, and fulfillled the goals I had in mind when I wrote it, which included creating a progressively relentless, tension and sex-fueled story that includes interesting characters (to me at least), themes that aren't often explored in this context, and enough of a plot to actually call it a story.

It's certainly got its problems, and I do feel like I'm getting better. But, well I write for myself first, and in that sense I write to turn myself on. I'll read it again not to lament over how bad it was in comparison to my subsequent work, but to turn myself on, and to enjoy visiting Cindy again--a character I love and am proud of.

That all said, my second Lit. story will be a 180 degree departure from what Cindy was, but I hope... no less of an interesting story, albeit perhaps to a different audience.
