Tell us about your lowest rated story

I have eleven stories in the 3.xx range, of which four are 750-word stories, two are Loving Wives, but the other five... I'm not sure they deserved their relatively low scores, especially Purgatory and Getting What's Coming.
I read both and found them very enjoyable. Most of the low scorers probably didn't get the scathing sarcasm or were personally offended.

By the way, did you write a sequel to "Getting What's Coming"? The world needs more futa on male. :)

'Naughty Candy' scored a whopping 3.68! It was meant to be funny, problem was I didn't know that LW readers rarely have a sense of humor. A few thought it was funny, others were not so kind. I still laugh at the comments, especially the nastier ones. My one and only LW entry was interesting, if nothing else.

Don’t overlook humor and satire. Lowish ratings AND obscurity. My lowest is my favorite: https://literotica.com/s/the-splooge-cum-on-cum-all

My weird humor plus being kinda gross and impolite and inconsiderate. I tried and failed finding an illustrator for it too. A cat in the hat sort of persona. Splooging all over everyone. The splooge.

Oh yeah. Also poetry (hey, there’s rhyming) and short. 812 words.

What a lame load of ‘worsts.’ I have quite a few stories rated below 3.50, and not a one is in Loving Wives.

“The Talk,” posted in December 2019, currently brings up the rear (no, it’s not in Anal), 2.79 on 28 votes, 3515 views, 1 ‘reading list,’ and two comments (one negative, the other mixed). Maybe I misread the Romance category. Or maybe the story is really bad. The short description is a lightning rod: ‘To be happily married, do they need sex with other people?’

I’m aware that some readers feel the need to push back on behalf of traditional marital fidelity. I continue to give them fodder by writing stories which make a case for open relationships. Since my pay rate can’t be cut, I see no reason to do differently.

What can I say? It was my very first published story. It was the seed of a minorly clever bit of observational humor with a tacked on vanilla sex scene between an established couple being a bit silly. Plus I chose a title that was way too cute for my own good. Getting a 3.6 was totally fair.

I keep it around because it reminds me of how far I have come. My second story earned me a H, and I have hopes my next story will do comparably well as soon as it clears "Pending Pergatory."

Well, my lowest rated story - and the one I've gotten the most "creative" comments on - is What Baby Wants Baby Gets. ✍️

A large part of the reason for that is probably that it's posted in Loving Wives and features a story about a woman cuckolding her husband BBC-style and getting away with it by being the smarter and more manipulative one in the relationship. A setting that I find quite realistic btw. I mean, there ain't no law saying that the man is always the smartest half of a marriage. Women can be pretty clever too when they feel like it. 😏

Not a great idea to tell that to the LW crowd though, unless you wanna know how it feels to be a hamburger in a dog pound... 😓🍔
I enjoyed it and gave it 5 stars.

Well, thanks :)

You are in the minority for LW though. Looking at the typical high rated story, the key to success in this category is severely punishing a cheating wife and her lover. Bloody revenge is paramount, regardless of the circumstances.

In this name, it's Microfiction: https://www.literotica.com/s/microfiction ( 4.22 ) Fully expected it to have a lackluster response, as it's hardly standard Lit fare. It's cross-posted from another site where there's a category for micros, and I posted it here as an anthology of 8 of my micros on a whim one day.

As Les, it's Ride No More: https://www.literotica.com/s/ride-no-more ( 4.33 ) It's in the non-erotic category, so obviously not standard Lit fare. It's basically a fever-dream in words, and while I enjoy it immensely, I always expected it to have limited appeal.

As Dark, it's LST3K Ep. 10: Sister Summer: https://www.literotica.com/s/lst3k-ep-10-sister-summer ( 4.37 ) Humor, which is a low density category. It's also near the end of the posted episodes of the series when many of the original fans had moved on, so it didn't get the boost the earlier ones had from those super-fans. The description ( while perfectly obvious to regular readers who understand the premise of the series ) undoubtedly hurts it with casual observers... "Diving headlong into a sweaty summer stinker"

Just wondering on your LST3K series, did you ask permission from the author's you were spoofing?

Oh, absolutely. Everyone was on board. The only one that was adversarial was He Who Shall Not Be Named. Still got permission for the price of having the stank of him hanging over my favorites listing for 365 days. All of the others were actually donated to me for the purpose of spoofing them. Still have a few that I haven't ever been able to pull enough quips out of to release a new episode.

He let himself be mocked for the price of a fav for a year that is....so him.

You ever want to pick it up again feel free to take one of mine, the older ones especially leave something to be desired. And you don't have to fav me :p

I'll keep it in mind and take a peek. It takes more than a little to be desired to get a good one out of it, though. The best ones are pure horror shows, really. If it's readable, it's hard to pull enough quips out of. The natural breaks of immersion are where the quips fit best. You hit a passage and your brain skids to a halt. 90% of them are ancient, unreleased work, or first timers who decided that trying to put their own words to the their fantasies wasn't their forte.

I guess technically majority of my stories rate a 0.0

Antagonistic perhaps but as a personal choice I deliberately switch off voting on submission/publication.

This may not be in the spirit of things and I used to collect scores but as an individual I found the narcissism triggered the wrong behaviours within me ultimately making the overall experience less enjoyable. Even though I wasn’t actually achieving that low a score.

It might be seen as selfish or self indulgent protectionism but for me it’s one less thing for an over active mind to concern itself with

Nothing wrong with that, the option is there for a reason.

I'm not interested in Loving Wives, so my lowest is a short, non-erotic attempt at stream of consciousness. It too is a kind of "fever dream in words" (great description), that I tried as a writing exercise. It got few readers and stands at 4.15. Too bad. I like it.

Among erotic stories, I don't post them if I don't like them, so my lowest (after being 1-bombed this week) is at 4.65. I like it and it has good characters, but it has more adventure-action than my others. One scene is just talking through a sex session for the benefit of a suspected eavesdropper. Another scene involves some mild, unwelcome sexual violence. Maybe these episodes just didn't meet expectations in "Erotic Couplings," but I suspect the real reason is that I got lazy and cheaped out on the dialogue. Realistic dialogue takes time to write, but I've decided it's needed to add life and presence to a story.

Not sure what the score is now. Wrote it awhule ago. Wasn't a genre of interest to me and it shows. I was asked to write it. Those who like that genre do like it though.

Thanks for the comments on these. Gave my day a nice bounce...

My first one in my admittedly easy genre that was the true story of my first foray with a man called "First". It's not badly written but probably didn't get as visual as my later stuff. Much of which has basis in true experiences but no necessarily an exact retelling. Generally I've done ok in scoring but it will be interesting to get reactions when I publish a few of my exact retelling that are sitting as drafts.

Lowest was in Non-Erotic of all places, a two-page story titled The Last Acts of Despicable People. I knew it was going to put some people off and said as much in the intro. At 4.24 last time I looked.

My two lowest - the only two with a rating below 4, which surprises me (there were several others, but I see now they have inched above the threshold) are also my only two non-consent stories:

Old Times' Sake, 3.82, a Halloween contest story inspired by an extremely manipulative former friend (and let me be clear, I would never in a million years do what the "protagonist" in this story does - that would effectively be rape).

Turnabout, 3.72, about your average chauvinist pig who treats a pair of women he sees on the beach like pieces of meat, and gets his comeuppance for it. This one I actually feel is pretty good, and the outcome is nothing he doesn't deserve. A commenter predicted that most men would bomb the story...it would appear he was right. I'm still fairly proud of it, though.

The premise of this thread is simple. Tell us about your currently lowest rated story on this site.

What score did it get? Do you think that score is justified?
Did you know/suspect that this story was going to score so low?
What is it about the story that resulted in this score?
Would you still write/post this story? Would you change anything about it?

The brave can include a link to the story and ask for feedback (and maybe a couple of consolation upvotes.)

My lowest was a 750 word score and it shocked me because I thought it was original and funny. It was my poke at the character of Marc Lavalliere, because many people were sick of the over 60 adaptations of GeorgeAnderson's story, February Sucks. My story went as follows, there was someone really named Mark Lavalliere who suddenly gets treated like shit from some of the people he knows who happen to be readers of Literotica stories. He gets tipped off about it and is upset because his name is Mark with a K. Anyway here's the link.

My lowest rated is also my newest story called Nasty in Nashville. It didn’t get as many views or votes as my earlier stories. Hoping when it gets a few more readers it’ll perk up a little bit.

My lowest rated story is The Private Photographer, it's based on a premise originally put forth by Golden Angel. It scored a 4.35, which I wish was higher, but time will tell. One of my stories has been out there since 2008 and it just recently crept to 4.5 which makes The Private Photographer my only story without an H, so I'm applying. I'm not bragging, I write what I like, and I try to make sure every story is the best that I can produce, and if I am bragging about anything it's that I'm flying without an editor. I guess my readers like what I post, and I'm just happy that they're enjoying it.

I suspect it scored so low because I've never written a NonConsent/Reluctance before, and I just didn't feel right about it. In the story the protagonist got pulled into a NC/R photoshoot and gets used as if she was one of the models. I wanted it to come out that deep inside that this is what the protagonist wanted but didn't realize it, I don't think I got that idea into the story properly or across to the readers, and I tried to make some "fixes" that apparently didn't fix anything. If anyone wants to take a look and offer help on it, please do so.
