I thought you liked the hard way. *raises eyebrow* The harder the better was my impression.

Well, yes, this is true.

Unless it comes to something I'm really trying to get out of.

Like being tied to the bed and ravished?

bad, bad threadjackers.

Might just have to tie you both up.

Okay Scarlett, they're restrained. Back to you...

It's funny ~ I was just talking to Mat about that. I printed out my submission page and within 4 days, votes and rates went down by one on some - but the views on each story sky rocketted.

Hi, Honey, sweeter than honey. When you refer to your submissions page, do you mesan the page where you have all your stories listed in alpha order, including votes, views, etc.? I look at mine fairly often but I never print it. Doing that seems pointless because it keeps changing. Sometimes Laurel deletes some votes but the number of views keeps increasing. My total is at just over 2,000,000 now. That's not all reads, of course; some of the views are just people glancing at it and deciding not to read it. Most of the views, though, are people actually reading the stories.

does she delete duplicate votes? I mean, I don't understand how you can lose a vote?

Yes, she does delete votes that appear fradulent. (More than one from the same ISP address, for example.)

So sometimes the vote tally goes down and the score goes up.

oh...ok...so, if someone likes your story and votes twice, she'll delete that vote?

Ok...I get it.

The only reason I print, is because I never have a chance to just look and remember the numbers. I was curious why everything seemed to be staying the same. But then I saw that there were a lot more reads...

You know, that's not entirely fair. What I mean is, some service providers have shared ISP addresses. I go in through AOL, which does, and there have been things I haven't been able to participate in because of the shared ISP, because someone else using AOL already got involved. I imagine there's no way to tell those apart though, is there?

I honestly don't know the answer to that.

Maybe you should PM Laurel and ask what happens in that type of situation.

It's ok, I like a good,um, jacking now and then. Oh, that sounded kinda odd.
(((hugs))) for Scarlett. Sorry someone apparently targeted you. They suck.
Thanks Princess.

Aaaargh.

Never check scores right before bed. It's been a while since I've been bombed and now I get to go to sleep all pissed off.

Mainly irritated because it appears to be a legitimate vote, unlike all the others where some lovely person would go through and systematically hit everything I have with a 1. Those I report without the least bit of guilt and they've always been removed. No such luck this time. Just a lone vote on my newest baby with a PC of "Wot the fuck?" Very helpful.

At least I managed to hang on to my H, though barely.

*le sigh*

G'night, all. :rose:

It's not trolling per say, it's just that the unwashed masses can't appreciate your greatness.

My latest poem merited a very interesting comment:

Should I try stacking them next time? :(

You put your words in a row!? What the hell is wrong with you!? Don't you know they're supposed to be in geometric patterns!?!

I'm more of a cummings disciple. I load them into a shotgun and fire them at the page.

I haven't written very many poems but I always put them in a spiral, starting with the first word in the middle and working out. This wouldn't work for a long poem, though, because I would run out of space.

Not a trolling experience per se, but I just had a recent experience in feedback that made me sit up and go WTF?

I have been writing a series of fetish stories that started out Lesbian, but have recently turned more vague in the sexual identity sense.

Now I'm no Hemmingway, Faulkner, Joyce etc… But I do have chops.

I recently received an anonymous feedback telling me that I had better “keep it lesbian” and that I was “reaching” and “being overindulgent,” she did not specify but I assume she meant in my scope, language, phrasing etc.

I’m an open minded heterosexual male, and my stories reflect that. I wonder how many people actually look at author’s profiles before sending feedback, I know I do.

I have no problem with people giving me suggestions, comments, telling me what they found titillating and what they found lacking, but dammit if I'm going to cater my stories to one individual who didn't even bother to leave a reply address. I’m not getting paid for this and as far as I’m concerned, my singular aim is to please myself. If others feel compelled to read and appreciate my stories I am forever grateful.

Why someone would think that the kind of criticism that INSTRUCTS the writer on content or scope would be acceptable, especially this kind of crap.

Ahhhh I feel much better now….

Remember ascii art? Make little trees or something.

Latest story -- "Boiling Point" -- is being mercilessly trolled because it had the audacity to be at the tippy top of the category top list (however briefly).

Bombed (of course). Bombs removed (back to #1). Bombed again (as expected).

And so the cycle will apparently go ...

*sigh*

Congratulations, dear one. Well done.

I take the 1's as a mark of valor, now.

You are a much more noble creature than I. I want to put a "mark of valor" on the fuckin' troll's ass. :D
