The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

Hang in there, Lynn. It may not be encouraging now, but I understand that recovery from hip replacement goes faster than recovery from knee replacement
Thanks. I had the left knee replaced several years ago. My hip had more than arthritis. There was a tear in the tissue and a cyst. While the knee surgery was worse, I'm also older now.

Had a great meeting with my financial advisor. It's nice to know that I'm in good financial shape and should survive just about anything except a nuclear war.

There's a fresh pot of coffee brewing and the teapot is hot. There are danishes and some kind of pineapple upside-down cake on the counter for those having a snack attack.

I got some more writing done yesterday so I'll be over in the corner banging away at the keyboard making sure my heroine gets out of the pickle she's found herself in ...

I wrote about 730 words into the second day of the story in my WIP. It was going nowhere. More than half of what I'd written was about the women's clothing, which wasn't actually part of the story. I deleted it. If I have to depend on their clothing to make them interesting, then I've done something terribly wrong.

Other projects have deadlines today, so I can't get back to it now.

My writing has mostly taken a pause the past few days. The weather has been excellent and I've been mostly out working on the deck in the courtyard at our art studio. I may have mentioned it here, maybe not, but it's a private space cordoned-off from the world, philosophically similar to the cabin-in-the-woods that we had to give up last year. The deck is for the hot tub, scheduled to be delivered in three weeks. Anyway, the last boards were tacked-down yesterday and what remains is finish work.

The little bit of writing has been mostly picking at the sports event story. Last couple of pages have gone off the rails and I need to crank it back. There are three stories in the can that need to be uploaded. Maybe this evening I'll find the roundtuit for the description and keywords to run the next-in-line up the flagpole.

Oh, I've been on a roll lately. I have five or six completed SS, but they need a few go-throughs before I post. And I'm not sure posting here and for sale at the same time is the best way to go about this. A creamy caramel frap today. MMmm

Cautiously, declaring myself pneumonia-free. I'm painfully aware I've been mistaken in the past about this. But still think this time, it's squashed. No Irish today, just French roast, in my French press. About the fifth cup of the day of caffeinated coffee. So, I got the jitters.

Fingers crossed for you Millie. Respiratory infections are not fun.

My blog and political writings are satire not my fictional writing. And what I said was I don't understand how a story published on the main sight the literature side will be moved to the forums. And I haven't said anything actually political here.
Stories are not moved from the main literature side of Lit. into the political forum side of Lit. That section, [cesspool, which I frequent], is mostly Trumpian fiction, not anything worth reading for the most part. No one there is willing to be open to reasonable debate. Go fishing there if you like, but beware of the 'sharks' pretending to be lawyers.

On the Lit side, the site manager has determined that stories there are to be non-political in nature. For instance, a story railing about a current political figure or figures might get rejected as content inappropriate.

If you get into political discussion mode here, you will be asked to refrain from such commentary, as this reasonable side of the forum does not want to engage in such gibberish. As you noted, you haven't been soapboxing here, so you're good. Welcome aboard.

@Duleigh - If there's enough interest, we may be able to get a cappuccino machine installed here for those who want something more than plain coffee.

Until then, there's a fresh pot of coffee brewing and the teapot is hot. There are some cheese blintzes on the counter along with donuts for those who want a bite.

My writing is proceeding and I'm finding myself eager to get to the keyboard and put more words on paper. I'll be ove in the corner if you need anything.
Will it still make coffee? You know, undiluted from the spout without additives? Asking for a friend. ;)

@AloneTooLong - @TxRad is missed and no one will ever take his place. He was a one-of-a-kind person ...

@dmallord - If we get one, I'll make sure it will make plain coffee.

@MillieDynamite - here's hoping you stay pneumonia-free ...

There's a fresh pot of coffee brewing and a hot teapot for those who want a cuppa. There are goodies on the counter so help yourself. Everyone is welcome here.

I'll be over in the corner writing away. My heroine sure does get into some interesting fixes. But, that's what makes writing fun I guess ...

We have light rain--very light. But it's water, so it's all good. The mountains north of here may even get snow.

The weather service issued a freeze watch for this morning, but we didn't get that cold. There'll be another for tomorrow, but I don't have anything in the garden that I need to worry about.

We'll be in Holland, Mi next week for our niece's wedding, and the weather there is supposed to be about the same as it has been here.

Thanks, CK! My cup happens to be empty at the moment, but I'm hesitant to relinquish my spot on the sofa. It seems every time I get up, the dog seeks the warm spot left by my butt, and then I'm not next to an end table for a place to set my cup.

Weather here is all rain all the time, through Sunday evening. 4" is expected, and the freshly-graded backyard is already a mud pit. Dog has to be pottied on a lead to keep him out of the muck. At least it's a warmish mid-60s.

I think I made a breakthrough on my "Yay Team" story. The protagonists haven't made it out of the hotel yet and are getting into all sorts of trouble this Friday night. However, the tournament gym is just a few blocks away and well within stumbling distance in the morning. No worries.

The rain goes on. Officially we're up to a shocking 0.03 inches now. It's mid-morning and the temperature continues to drop. We're now down to 38F.

I took most of the sweaters I wore over the winter to the cleaners last week and washed a few myself. I needed one this morning for the first time in weeks, so I pulled one out of the closet that hasn't been worn in years. It reminded me that I have about twice as many sweaters as I wear.

It's a cool and dryish day in Cali right now, with 57 degrees and 50 percent humidity. It's not dry like Arizona or Colorado, but here, by the bay, it's dryish.

Been there many times. Too bad the tulips aren't out yet. They can be gorgeous.

They're hoping the tulips are out by next weekend, but Tulip Time doesn't start until May 2.

As a side note... This is the 250th anniversary of the battles of Lexington and Concord.

The rain goes on.

Thunderstorms most of the night and into this morning. 1/2" recorded so far. Thankfully forecast through Monday is reduced from 4" total to 1.5", but we're still under a flood watch. Back yard is a mud pit due to yesterday's grading.

"Yay Team" story is coming along. Tournament is Saturday ("tomorrow"), so at the moment the out-of-town team is being their mischievous selves at the hotel. Naked college women running up and down the halls is in the forecast, never mind the adults getting into their own trouble at the bar. Idle hands are the devil's workshop.

I think we've had at least 0.24 inches so far today. We had 0.17 inches all year before today. It snowed for awhile, and the temp dropped to 33F.

Aliens, not the current public news kind, are on my mind today.

Two of them are loose on Earth and walking among us in plain sight. One looks like a voluptuous shapeshifter rescued by two young earthlings with immoral thoughts in mind. If that wasn't bad enough, she is a time traveler. Who knows where this story is headed? It's a pantzer work in progress. I'm inclined to have her return to a prior date and provide payback to those two. :devilish::alien:
