The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

I hope it's the milk, @Rustyoznail. That saves you the work and the illness. Both times I've had covid, the first sign was a distinctive headache.

My bag is packed but for chargers and toiletries. The clothes I'm wearing on the plane tomorrow are laid out and waiting. Don't really know why I did all that tonight. We won't leave the house until after noon.

That will give me more time in the morning to work on the story I've been completely stuck on for two days. I need one line for transition, and it isn't coming to me.

@NotWise - How about "Meanwhile, back at the ranch ..."

@Rustyoznail - I hope the milk wasn't lumpy ...

The plumber is done with the new plumbing and the cappuccino machine is on its way. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the coffee was brewing, and the smell of the roasted coffee beans wafted through the coffee shop. The teakettle was whistling and the scent of cinnamon from the cinnamon rolls added some spice that made everyone who came in smile.

I'll be over in the corner trying to figure out if my heroine does it the hard way or the easy way. The sound of a forehead hitting the keyboard will probably be heard several times during the process.

Mean while, back at the ranch, Zelda looked doubtfully at her bottled margarita and said, "There are a lot more interesting ways to put 'cock' and 'tail' together."

Now all I need is a ranch. Wait, my original problem was easier.

Ah, coffee and cinnamon! Morning scents suggesting the day might be worth chewing through the restraints after all.

I'm doing back flips, I'm so happy to be yuck-free! My only complaint is, I'm to fucking busy with ghostwork to write for me. What's in the pot today?

Hi from beautiful Macatawa, Mi. It's just after dawn and I'm on a hill watching the sun rise over the inlet. I need another cup of coffee, although it is Folgers.

@NotWise - We don't do Folgers here. Only the best Arabica beans are used here.

@LillianDevereux - yes, my time at Wright-Patterson AFB in the '80's still drives so many white nights full of regrets ...

The coffee pot is full and the teapot is hot. Pastries are on the counter. Next week, we'll be installing the cappuccino machine and we'll see if it increases morale around here.

I'll be over in the corner working on my story. The denouement is finished and I just have to write the bridge to get there. Oh, fun!

Unfortunately, I'm only in the Coffee Shop in spirit. I'm really in an AirBnB where my niece outfitted the kitchen with Folgers before we got out.

We're overlooking sailboat docks in Holland harbor. I'd post a photo, but I don't have all the equipment talking to each other yet.

Enjoy your visit. These moments will be treasured for a lifetime ...

You can almost hear the grass growing with the rain and the sun we've been getting lately. I just wish I could get out into the flower beds and gardens and do what needs to be done right now ...

Oh, well, I'll just attend to the AH Coffee Shop for now. There's a fresh pot of coffee brewing and the teapot just finished whistling so it's hot and ready to go. There are donuts and some cinnamon monkey bread on the counter for snacking.

I'll be over in the corner trying to sync up the timelines between my current story and the previous stories I've written to make sure there's no time travel or paradoxes involved in the story.

You can almost hear the grass growing...

Yeah. Our front lawn is going to overwhelm the mower. It'll take two cuts. A trip over to the studio to fetch the grass catcher is on the agenda since the small patches left in the backyard are too tall and C will be all over my case if I leave clippings for the dog to track into the house.

Sports story is coming along. At least they're now in the gym.

I got the machines to talk to each other, so now I have a scaled picture over the harbor from yesterday.

It's been a blast. My nephew just arrived, so now the house is full. I'm not even sure how many we are. It's a big house.

We had a waitress at breakfast who was very good at serving as a performance art. I tried to imagine how to describe the way she moved her body. Maybe I'll try to write it some time.

Where is that? Unless it's a secret location, I'd like to know where it is! Cause it's fucking beautiful.

Macatawa, west of Holland, Michigan. The water is Holland Harbor. The harbor entrance is to the left of the photo, and Lake Michigan is behind me. There's a ridge of hills along the lake shore, and the house is on top the ridge. As I type this, the sun is out and the water is brilliant blue.

It's pretty, but I wouldn't want to be here in the winter. Also, the local population is shockingly pale.

Jo and I are on a mini getaway, and it's fucking raining and cool. Shee-it! Can't have no outdoor fun, so we're burning up the bed!

Here's the same harbor view with the sun out.

This really isn't getting me into a groove for my WIP. That story is dark and dangerous.

@NotWise - I'm planning to spend some time in the UP this summer. I can;t wait ...

There's a fresh pot of coffee brewing and the teapot is hot once again. There are donuts with sprinkles on them and some crullers with cinnamon sugar sprinkled on them hot out of the oven.

I'll be over in the corner working on my story, really anxious to get it done soon. I've got another story gnawing at my brain that I want to work on as soon as possible.

crullers sound wonderful, thanks Candy!

Y'all might be getting tired of this... Dawn over the inlet.

@Candy_Kane54, I've never been to the UP. I understand that it's a beautiful place. My sister raised her family in Michigan, but last fall was the first time I've been here. This visit is for a wedding that happens today, then tomorrow we make our way back home.
