the "ask crazychemgirl a question" thread

My background is in Chemical Engineering, Why are there so few women chemists and chemical engineers? And why the few that are there soooooo strange? Not nerdy as they are normally stereotypically depicted - but wild and crazy one minute and then angry and stand offish the next and rarely warm and cuddly? They seem to be alternatively extreme women!

is the current climate emergency (so to speak) more a fact of the haves not selling to the have nots the means to not pollute as much.

(IE Australia, and Uranium)

I haven’t experienced this... so I can’t give you an answer... maybe it’s you?

I think it’s a case of greedy people not wanting to not be greedy and people suck.

What is the current estimate of the human brains potential to store information?

What percentage of that storage space is used in the average human?

In view of the correct answer to the above questions: What causes the disparity?

Funny, no one comments on you post, right?

How long will it take me to fall asleep tonight?

lots of factors at play here ...
how much you slept last night..
how hard you worked today and therefore how tired you are..
how much caffeine or other chemicals you've ingested that make sleep difficult..
how much you are prone to insomnia..
how comfortable is your bed/pillows/sheets..

I'm gonna say ... 45 minutes.

Not enough.
Very.
Coffee about an hour ago but I can fall asleep with coffee easily. Potent potables fifteen minutes ago.
Not much really.
Snuggly comfy.

I hope you're off by triple. 😴😁

You’re having dinner at your local bar & grill, family own, with food that deserves a three star rating in the NYT at the very least. You have no intention of meeting anyone. You’re tired, you’ve worked a long, mentally draining day, and all you want to do is eat and watch baseball while sitting at the bar.

An attractive woman about your age, 35 to 40, sits down next to you. She’s dressed in business suit, her hair salon styled, her makeup is stellar, and she’s well groomed and well spoken. She takes an interest in you, and you have a sense that this can lead to a one-night stand if you take an interest in her tonight, or it could turn into a dating situation if you exchange numbers.

You’re not looking for anything long term and you’re not in the mood for a one-night stand (tonight), but you don’t know if you’ll ever see this woman in the bar again because this is the first time you’ve seen her, so a one-night stand may be worth it.

What do you do? Blow her off after polite conversation. Exchange numbers (or just get hers and maybe/maybe not call her) or do you go for the one-night stand after deciding that being tired and drained isn’t that big of a deal.

exchange numbers .. it's possible a one night stand could be a fwb if you play your cards right.

FINE .. I will.

To which party will the Wisconsin Supreme Court ultimately award ownership of the Talbot Lago?

It's a long read, but an interesting story...

It’s too Friday for that much reading.
