The Cozy Corner

A lot of the homes in the midwest have basements. Almost every town has a tornado siren. The storm fronts pick up a lot of moisture and energy moving across the mississippi river/valley area. Those of us near there see a lot of tornado watches and warnings
I disagree a bit. Ive lived in tornado alley my whole life (lower midwest). It'd shock you how many homes dont have basements. But in most instances towns and cities have shelters they open up for the citizens and tornado sirens are tested frequently.
April, May, and June are most likely occurring but they can be seen in any month.
Exactly this. This was my first year that we had a warning in January though. 😳

(p.s. sorry for treading in randomly unannounced. I was passing through and saw the tornado discussion.)

I am thankful to no longer live in western Missouri. We had basements but if I never see or experience another tornado it'll be too soon.

Everyone in the Midwest just cracks open a beer and steps outside to see if it’s close or not……or is that just me? 😂
Yes... one thousand percent yes
which way is the wind going?
how green is the sky?
is that a patio furniture cushion?
oh, there's the siren... better check radar to see if we should go inside

Same! 😂 My kids are like you're such a Midwestern dad 😂

My area just updated the siren alert system. We used to get sirens for storms that were already past us and we weren’t in any danger. Usually, I’d look outside because I was calling bullshit on the sirens. Now, they at least split our area up into 4 or 5 zones.

I did get caught driving home from work last spring and a tornado went through just a few miles up the road I was on. Had a limb fall, barely missing my truck and land on a power line. I got the fuck outta that area real quick. Looked like a war zone with splintered trees everywhere. Closest I’ve ever been.

You're always welcome. Don't we have a welcome bag? One moment...Let me check my she-shed...

Here it is! Chocolates, cookies and a new coffee mug, just for you! Mug - Copy.jpg

Do you live in an area where the ground is rocky?
Nope. It's flat as shit. And mostly farmland.🤣 Oklahoma (where I grew up) is a mix though.
You being a little whirlwind of chaos is always welcome.. Its what you do.. we like it!
Aww shucks. Thanks!
