Adding my 2¢ about tornadoes. I'm up in NW Indiana, we just don't get tornadoes touching down to the ground here. We do get the strong winds and a couple times a year they're bad enough to do some really bad tree damage. I'm about 20 minutes from the tip of the most southern tip of Lake Michigan. People around here say that it's the air pressure around this part of the lake that pushes the tornado system back up into the skies. I have no idea though...

I usually like to stand out in front of the garage and watch the storm but once the rain starts or when it just gets too windy, I'm moving back into the house. Our tornado alert tower system is tested every Tuesday around 11am. And those suckers are LOUD! But I guess that depends on how close you are to one of them.
