I know you are all waiting with baited breath on the results of the UKers 'choona' and 'Choosday' poll.
In both cases, it was 90% certain we have never heard of the bloody terms!
Choona:

* Please add my vote ofto both polls
* Kindly ignore the crazy American with their nonsense votes... yeah, looking at you @cheekygirl75 ,@ScarletDaisy and @Qky75
* I have my suspicions the one UKer who voted 'yes' they had heard of them is mad.
Thank you! I always love getting recommendations. Will add this to my list
He is an excellent author!Thank you! I always love getting recommendations. Will add this to my list
They say "choona" in the UK as well. Dr. Geoff Lindsey has a video on this. It's a phenomenon know as yod-coalescence.I’m taking the thread waaaaay back… I have confirmation that whoever started the “choona” debate wasn’t wrong, they just got the wrong country. Apparently it’s the Irish that say “choona”
Here’s the proof:

No, THANK YOU! Be sure to let me know what you think.Thank you! I always love getting recommendations. Will add this to my list
Of course they did, they were from royal lineage, afterall. I had a Grand Duke Alfred Phineas Montedoggo, and Grand Duchess Adelgiest Adelade Montedoggo. I had one sporting dog named Rusty Boy Dan Splash for Fun Add Water, and currently am harboring a much loved, but still a common peasant, named Mildred St. Olga des RettungslandesDoes your other dog have a title too?
I've never had more than one pet at a time. But if I ever do get two pets at once I'm naming them Zuul and Gozer.
Yes!And read @KatieKulka32 too
I’ll bet that was fun to type what you just wroteOf course the dif, they were from royal lineage, afterall. I had a Grand Duke Alfred Phineas Montedoggo, and Grand Duchess Adelgiest Adelade Montedoggo. I had one sporting dog named Rusty Boy Dan Spladh for Fun Add Water, and currently am harboring a much loved, but still a common peasant, named Mildred St. Olga des Rettungslandes

I think @EyesOnHers and the rest of the UK Online Directory denied that! They say "choona" in the UK as well. Dr. Geoff Lindsey has a video on this. It's a phenomenon know as yod-coalescence.
I am so happy you have a feller who's not me because I'm -immediately- seeing compatibility issues between us. You keep on being you.Of course the dif, they were from royal lineage, afterall. I had a Grand Duke Alfred Phineas Montedoggo, and Grand Duchess Adelgiest Adelade Montedoggo. Were you the instigator of that debate?I can't believe this is back.![]()
Nope. Was it @Qky75?Were you the instigator of that debate?I can’t be bothered to go back far enough to figure out how it started
![]()
Ok, I lied… I see it was @Qky75 who started it!Were you the instigator of that debate?I can’t be bothered to go back far enough to figure out how it started

You either have a very good memory or faster searching skills than me!!Nope. Was it @Qky75?
I enjoyed him being proven wrong. You either have a very good memory or faster searching skills than me!!
The royal court are/were Weimaraners. The sport dog was a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, and the peasant has the face of a pit bull, but has the ears of a dingo and is only 35 lbs. She's the cutest little thing you've ever seen! What kind of dogs?
Interesting. Where speakers are from, live and work can predict yod-coalescence so it's not homogeneous even within the UK. It could just be confirmation bias or the predominant UK Online Directory members don't engage in YC. I have a paper on it if you wanna dive into the phonetics study.I think @EyesOnHers and the rest of the UK Online Directory denied that!
I love him so much. In my home he's known as Potato Savior, spreading the good news of potatoesI’m taking the thread waaaaay back… I have confirmation that whoever started the “choona” debate wasn’t wrong, they just got the wrong country. Apparently it’s the Irish that say “choona”
