The Cozy Corner

Yes, a softer version of a granola bar!
Basically rolled oats, demerara sugar, butter and golden syrup. Then baked.

I sometimes melt down dark chocolate and pour a thin layer over the top before chilling it. Because obviously the sugar and golden syrup is not sweet enough 🤣
😋 yummy and dark chocolate is so good for you too ☺️

So... Flapjacks on GBBO are how I found golden syrup.

To me, it tastes like when you get a bite of maple syrup that already has melted butter in it, but even more heavenly.

GBBO makes me want to be a baker and then I attempt to make a Victoria sponge with chocolate ganache and three hours later my kitchen looks like a bakery exploded flour everywhere.. and my cake ended up dry and my ganache crumbly 😑

A baker I will sadly never be

Frankly ... my mind is blown... how can our US cousins NOT of heard of both Golden Syrup and Flapjacks !?!
I've heard the word flapjacks but just assumed it was one of those quirky English words that had the same meaning... Flapjack = Pancake.

Never heard of golden syrup.

I grew up in a Mexican household. We didn't do either. I only learned of American breakfast AFTER I got married and left home with my husband.

Hell, he didn't even know you ate eggs with a fork. Mexican, remember? We use tortillas for practically everything. 😂
