I've heard the word flapjacks but just assumed it was one of those quirky English words that had the same meaning... Flapjack = Pancake.

Never heard of golden syrup.

I grew up in a Mexican household. We didn't do either. I only learned of American breakfast AFTER I got married and left home with my husband.

Hell, he didn't even know you ate eggs with a fork. Mexican, remember? We use tortillas for practically everything.

I’m still confused by people eating sunny side up eggs with a fork. Give me tortillas!

That's very common here with the thin sliced loaves you can get. A lot of people use them folded to mop various liquid foodstuffs (soup, runny eggs, gravy...)
