Question: Are you where you thought you'd be at this stage in life? Are you in the career you wanted to be in?
You are full of deep and introspective questions today. I guess this is what happens when you get plenty of sleep. :p

No, not what I thought I would be doing or where I would be doing it. But that is ok. I have a job that constantly changes in what my day entails, so it is not quite the same from day to day, so that works for me.

I have had a journey through a few careers over the past decade but back to where I started in scientific rerearch although R&D in a company. Seems I gravitate towards science and can do it so yes, I am where I fit.

Question: Are you where you thought you'd be at this stage in life? Are you in the career you wanted to be in?
No. Not even close. But yes at the same time. Growing up I knew I wanted to get married, have kids, care for my home and family and I've done that. But I also had a great career that I never thought I'd have and the same goes for hubby.

Along the way I decided just to take it one step at time. There's a ton of filler material but a lot of that is just too.... Personal, to really dive into.

It led me to make the decision to quit/retire late last year or I worried I'd have a mental breakdown. Now? I'm a stay a home wife and I'm happy. Finally happy.

I have never really worked that way. I'm in the career I want to be in but it's not really one where I think of advancement or promotion with it. I'm more of a 'live in the now' person. I feel like future is hard to predict well enough so don't let it be a potential negative but make the best of today.

Phew, deep thoughts today! I never really had any vision of what my life would be like as an adult when I was a kid. But if you’d asked me 5 or 10 years ago what my life would be like, I wouldn’t have thought this. I’m grateful for my job being so flexible, though it isn’t my favorite job ever. And for the rest, it is what it is. If things had worked out like I might have thought, I wouldn’t have my dog or get to see my nieces growing up first hand, so there is that.

Question: Are you where you thought you'd be at this stage in life? Are you in the career you wanted to be in?
For the most part I have always been exactly where I wanted to be and doing what I needed to do and what I wanted to do.
I always found a way to provide for those I needed to provide for. I have always enjoyed the work that I do and found a way to make it be enough. The construction industry changes constantly and there is always new things to learn, new tools to touch, better techniques to use. I get off on that shit. I love the hobbies I have, the area I live in, sometimes the snow sucks but other than that life if fantastic and I find ways to enjoy it everyday.

Question: Are you where you thought you'd be at this stage in life? Are you in the career you wanted to be in?
Relationship wise... no. Didn't think I'd be starting over. It can get lonely but got kiddo.

Career wise... although my job can be stressful I love it, especially my current role.
Designing and developing systems. Trusted and given flexibility. Dealing with people in meetings can be a bit annoying though 😂

Lawn mowed and trimmed ....it's warm but not no shirt warm....but it was T-shirt warm which meant I could take off the long sleeve. So I got that going for me

Now I need to shower before it's time to start these tutoring sessions
Had to toss in the "no shirt warm" part in there didn't you? It's cool... by the way, you missed one of the hedges. Ask me how I know...

Question: Are you where you thought you'd be at this stage in life? Are you in the career you wanted to be in?
Omg no...not at all. In some ways I'm doing better than I thought but a lot of ways I'm doing way worse. I'm an intelligent educated guy and while I don't have a life of tragedy things tend to just not quite work out for me.....like just not quite. I mean some people who know me even laugh about it....so anyway no

Career? Depends on when you mean....I'm in a career now that I enjoy that is adjacent to what I thought I'd be doing. But I mean at times in my life I've wanted to be a writer, zoologist, coder, and whatever else.

So yea....guess I just outed myself to everyone as a wanderer dreamer hot mess 😂
