The Cozy Corner

So question inspired by a recent conversation:
What can/do you nerd out about?
My cats
Travel
Literature (all encompassing from books to book stores and anything between)
Organization (chaos is the 😈)
Lists
Planner/journals/notebooks
Pens- no I don’t have an extra you may borrow
Stationery in general
Postcrossing - look it up super cool to have mail correspondence from all over
Pen Pals
And a couple more hobbies…

Question: Think about your daily life - what is the first thing you think of, or whom do you think of when things start to become stressful? It could be any of our daily activities (i.e. sitting in traffic, dealing with a coworker, friend, or family member, living situation, etc). Do you find comfort in that first thought or does it add to stress?

Small things that stress, i.e. traffic, get f bombs if I'm alone or a deep breath if others are around to cope.

Serious things that stress me, I call my dad. He's always there to listen.

Sometimes just listening is the best. No advice or other thoughts. It's just nice to know that you are being heard.

I am on the other side of this... Stress and chaos are my fucking element. I love the shit and thrive in it. Its when I am not in that whirlwind and dealing with shit head on that I stop and think of others. 🤷
Generally the one I think of is the one I am connected to on that more intimate level. Not talking sexual but intimate, if that makes any sense at all... I am sure everyone here is aware of who that is at this time. 😉

Good question.

Not answering it, but its a good question all the same.

Depends on the circumstances but normally think of family and talking it through with someone as a problem shared is a problem doubled halved.

This is my husband to a T! I've seen some of the videos from his helmet cam and I can't even wrap my head around what he's done and what he's had to endure. He's been through a ton of counseling for PTSD and things like that, but to talk about intimacy? That's still so new to him - he tries, but like you, he lives off chaos and the adrenaline rush.

I talk to my dad all the time but before he ever says anything, he asks me if I already talked to my husband. He says, "You married him and he better be your first source"

My parents, definitely. Which one depends on what it is; then Nikki or my closest friend. I don't open up to just anyone so if we're not close then you won't really know anything about me except my jokes. I have three roommates who don't know about half my life, or even things that I might be currently going through, I'm very private IRL, so the people I am close to are really very few.

Your husband probably had one of those old school baby boomer dads that was tough as nails... The "stop crying before i give you something to cry about" "Pussies will never be hero's" " Rub some dirt in it" "Get up and get back to work slacker" "boys don't cry" dads.. 🤣🤣🤣
It makes us a little hard and a little out of touch at times..
But he is also tough and a damn good man! 😉

Day to day stress... I try and calm myself by thinking of kiddo or focus on coding.
I am really bad at reaching out to people when things are difficult. But there are one or two who know the right things to say who can shift my mindset or help me re-focus

Sooo like you guys don't press it down and smile and act like it's fine? Fascinating
I'm joking...... I'm also kind of not
But it depends on what it is honestly .... And if I'm going to reach out I have to be damn sure the person themselves is not in crisis mode because I'm not doing that to people.

My granddaughter, makes me smile no matter what is wrong in this world.

I'm not easily stressed, but when it happens I try to get a perspective of the situation and try to get on top of it. If that doesn't help I can lean on my wife.
I have no problem reaching out when things go south. I've done that with both my boss at work and with family. But the first person is my wife.

Bingo! My dad was the same way - he raised 7 girls and he made sure we knew how to be tough! But yeah, you get it!
