The Georgia Indictments Thread

kemp (Georgia govn) seems quite intent on the trial not happening before the election, down to directly telling people 'it's not going to happen before the election':

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/poli...p&cvid=bf32d298913a4f6aed4ababe9291c645&ei=13

and a state senator (colton moore) is attempting to impeach DA Willis in yet more desperation:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/poli...p&cvid=bf32d298913a4f6aed4ababe9291c645&ei=16

so what are the legalities involved here in interfering with the work of the Justice Department?

Depending on a lot of circumstances and variables , including the judge, Kemp may well be right. The wheels of justice grind slowly in America even without the delay tactics the corrupt orange traitor is sure to employ. I don’t think Kemp’s comments contained any nefarious subtext that involves him intervening in any overt or covert way.

Kemp’s message is also a portent of the likely future if “republicans” keep dying off and alienating young voters and women. -And if they run the rapey, racist, misogynistic, corrupt orange traitor OR Ron DeSantis as their candidate in 2024. (I personally think it doesn’t matter who they run; they lose in any event if the left stops attacking the Democrats)

As for the other “republican” clown’s push to impeach Fani Willis??? that isn’t going anywhere. imho.

$100,000 bail for john eastman; also

Members of Trump’s legal team — Drew Findling, Marissa Goldberg and Jennifer Little — were spotted entering the Fulton County Courthouse around 2:10 p.m. ET, walking in the direction of the DA’s office. They declined to comment to reporters on their way in.

Other defendants have agreed to bond packages with prosecutors.

Under the terms of the order, Eastman "shall report to pre-trial supervision every 30 days," and "shall perform no act to intimidate any person known to him or her to be a codefendant or witness in this case or to otherwise obstruct the administration of justice."

The order also holds that Eastman "shall not communicate in any way, directly or indirectly, about the facts of this case with any person known to him to be a codefendant" or witness "in this case except through his or her counsel."

$200,000 for Trump, plus a much more stringent gag order on what he can say about others connected with the case, including what he can post on social media and what he can repost from others there.

Who wants to bet on how quickly that order will be violated?

It isn't his money he's going to use.

It never is.

And probably with no real consequences, too. (I'm not entirely unsympathetic - imagine the logistics of secret service protection in a jail - but still.)

I give zero fucks about “the logistics of secret service protection in jail”. If the corrupt orange traitor flouts the judge’s order, then I expect equal treatment under the law.

I worked in a secure facility, and it could easily be managed impo

I would imagine the secret service would be far more stressed by endless travel logistics and securing various locations.

Just sayin’

team trump says they should have 2 years to form their case for defense, and cite a shedload of reasons why that should be. Jack Smith says, nuh huh:

"In service of a proposed trial date in 2026, that would deny the public its right to a speedy trial, the defendant cites inapposite statistics and cases, overstates the amount of new and non-duplicative discovery, and exaggerates the challenge of reviewing it effectively," the filing begins.

"He fails to mention, for instance, that in one case, he cites, disposition was delayed because of, among other reasons, litigation over pre-trial detention, a superseding indictment, and plea negotiations. ... All of the defendant's other cited cases include multiple co-defendants — as many as seventeen. ... The Court should set these inapposite comparisons aside when weighting the individual factors here under the Speedy Trial Act."

"Approximately three million pages of the discovery — 25 percent of the first production — come from entities associated with the defendant," the filing says. "Hundreds of thousands of other pages came from the National Archives — meaning that the defendant or his representatives reviewed them before the Government received them — or are publicly available, including the defendant's tweets, Truth Social posts, campaign statements, and court papers involving challenges to the 2020 election by the defendant or his allies."

It didn't take them two years to come up with their plan and execute it.
THEY KNOW everything then did.
Bullshit. Try them ALL!! Be happy we aren't just lining them up in front of a firing squad. Trump's lover in N. Korea would have done that 2 years ago.

"But... it's gonna ruin my run for President!" Oh well, gee! Next time don't fuck with the historical peaceful transfer of power! (And let's not PRETEND that any previous President ever tried pulling off this poorly executed SHIT!)

Putting Trump in jail pending trial actually makes Secret Service protection simpler. Stick him in a cell by himself. Pay one agent to sit outside all day to protect him.

He could use the diet. Make him walk a bit every day. He'll live another 50 years according to his medical exams.

Let's pour one out for Mike Lindell: MyPillow Guy wasn't important enough to get his own indictment

In addition, there were 30 other unindicted co-conspirators, who were unnamed in the document but whose identities have likely been uncovered by reporters at the Daily Beast: people like Bernie Kerik, Phil Waldron, Tim Fitton, and Boris Epshteyn. Truly, a stunning array of the biggest scumbags in America.

But there is one name that eagle-eyed observers who have closely followed this story will note is missing: Mike Lindell, the comically self-important maniac who founded the second-rate linens company MyPillow.

Kanye West's old publicist, Trevian Kutti, got to be listed as part of what the charges describe as Trump's "criminal enterprise," but poor old Mikey boy didn't rate a mention in the 98-page document. Same story with the hefty indictments filed against Trump in federal court by special prosecutor Jack Smith. Reporters quickly figured out who the six unnamed co-conspirators in the 2020 election interference and Capitol riot indictment were, but the MyPillow founder was not one of them. I guess Mike Lindell just wasn't important enough to the Big Lie conspiracy to rate a mention, much less a pile of indictments of his own. It certainly wasn't for lack of trying on his part.

“I served with Mark Meadows. I know Mark Meadows,” Jolly told MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace on Monday. “And I believe today that Mark Meadows has sung like a canary already.”

Jolly said Meadows isn’t “somebody who wants to go to prison for Donald Trump.”

Meadows has been largely silent in public for months, was barely mentioned in the Jan. 6 indictment against Trump, and has reportedly delivered damaging information when questioned.

John W. Dean III was able to the right thing and salvage some ethical integrity by telling the truth about Nixon. Perhaps Meadows will do the same thing during this latest GOP conspiracy against the democratic voting process

Jeffrey Clark begs federal court to halt his arrest and 'perp walk' in Fulton County

"Defendants should not have to watch the news or search for press stories to try to track down all legal papers in this case," he complained.

"We are hopeful that this Court will quickly issue that very type of notification to the Georgia state court," the filing added, "which will clearly bring a halt to all proceedings there, including any attempt by District Attorney Fani Willis to threaten or effectuate arrests under unilateral state judicial and ancillary executive power."
