I am a huge fan of The Olympics. Cannot wait for them to get started tomorrow.

We can keep results and medal counts on here.

I wonder how London is going to compare to Beijing's opening ceremony. That was phenomenal.

Me too! I am sooo looking forward to this and will be glued to the tv every moment I can be.

Great thread IHC.

Can't wait to hear snippets of this nonstop for the next three weeks. Every time this comes up on my workout playlist I go a little harder.

Makes you stand a little straighter and run a little harder, eh?:)

This is one of the greatest sporting event I have eve witnessed.

Agreed... I always enjoyed the swim events but absolutely fell in love with them during these Olympics.

Of course, I grew up in the 90's! That was one of the 5 funniest things Chris Kattan ever did on that show. (Not that that is a great list...) Such a funny bit!

Don't forget Azrael Abyss...he's the prince of sorrows.

As an (exiled) Londoner, I'm bursting with pride.

Couldn't care less how our opening ceremony compares as ours will be done by people who have volunteered and have the freedom to say no.

In the same way I don't care that sponsors are trying to rip the heart out of the Games' spirit as we're a cynical bunch and are just pointing and laughing at their pomposity.

Hear Hear!

We should stop complaining about the costs etc now and enjoy the spectacle and the sport...

We were in London last year and as crowded as it was then ...... i canont , cannot imagine how crowded it would be now with athletes , their families and all the spectators in the same city  !!??? Nevertheless i can't wait either ....... love watching the men's swimming and gymnastics for the obvious reasons ;)

I get what you are saying as far as the comparisons to other opening ceremonies. This one will be unique to you.

As for the sponsors you can pretty much say that about any sport. Hell any tv show for that matter. There are more commercials now than ever. Thank God for DVR's

I'm excited about the Olympics too!

I went to the ones in Atlanta in 96. It was a really cool experience. I wish I could be in London. Actually I would love to go to the winter olympics some year too.

I'm a little surprise, ICH, no sarcasm? no scathing wit? We need to have some of that here.

Also, having spent a fair amount of time in London and GB, I am looking forward to seeing lots of it on the coverage. Cuz let's be honest, we're going to see more of that than actual athletics. At least during prime time network.

I can't wait. I love all the sports. Swimming of course is a must see, along with track and field, biking... And so on. I went to the Atlanta Olympics. I still have my stuff. Yep I'll be geeking them out. I love to watch BBC British and Canadian to get other angles and coverage too of events.

apparently those who have seen the Opening ceremony rehearsals have been sworn to secrecy - but say it is stunning!
