THE NEW CHYOO (with link)! Also, what features should be part of an updated CHYOO?

The blue represents when an existing thread is updated. Green represents a brand-new addition.

I'm seeing green for threads that I've definitely looked at. That includes some threads I've edited myself.

My participation will be limited unless at least some of the stories I had adopted get transferred to me. These stories are abandoned by their original authors. These are also some of my favorite stories,

I believe that the answer to JumpMyBones's "concern" is NO; Despite Kaitou's LitErotica centric response.

CHYOA appears to be operating in a separate web server from either literotica or www.chyoo.com. Those who seem to know keep saying that LitErotica has failed to give Friedman access to the www.chyoo.com server.

Thus whatever Literotica decides regarding CHYOA and CHYOO is largely irrelevant to CHYOA's continued existence. If LitErotica wants to be the bad guys and gals, then all that LitErotica could rightfully demand to happen is www.chyoa.com to loose any mention or hyperlink to www.chyoo.com.

However, a fantastic habit that is good to get into is saving everything you write onto your computer and/or a thumb drive. This prevents you from ever loosing your writing. Word processing files take up minimal space. I use MS Word but LibreOffice could work just as well for free. I just prefer to spend my time writing instead of messing with coding and finding various downloads to get a simple spellchecker, with custom dictionary, and grammarchecker to work.

The mere act of putting your writing on the internet relinquishes control of said writing. For CHYOA at this moment, I think Friedman is the one with ultimate authority over CHYOA. Thus Friedman is the one in charge of that hypothetical 'button' you mention in describing your fear.

I have a lot of questions/comment below, but they are all moot if the answer to this one is "yes": are you saying that Chyoa is unauthorized, that it isn't connected to Literotica, and that we are all hitchhikers who at any moment could see our hard work simply vanish with the touch of a button

A few pages ago I linked a couple companies that offered their custom discussion board server for free. Is the hold up the lack of free time to initially create it? Or is there some other reason?

Since Laurel and Manu seem to be ignoring everyone and CHYOO's cries of distress for a couple months now; I am without any doubt they will continue right on ignoring everyone. Of course I am without a clue why they hate on chyoo so much but the proof is in the pudding so to speak.

Silence, is still a choice.

For the most part, I hope you're right, though acknowledge the migration process raises a few concerns in my head.

However, you have to be mindful of the word "unauthorized" when you answer a question that uses it as an adjective: I wasn't and answered almost solely as a moderator of Literotica; you weren't and answered only in accordance with the state of CHYOA - causing both of our answers to be lacking. From a world wide web standpoint, CHYOA can't be an unauthorized site since it violates no laws concerning content and a site can't be shut down for being like another's idea, and the only things that could get it shut down would be an if the migration process wasn't totally on the level, Friedman stops making payments to maintain it, it's hacked, or other such dangers. On the other hand, from a Literotica standpoint, CHYOA is an unauthorized topic since its creation was not approved by Literotica, and thus in accordance with the rules shouldn't be discussed here.

Basically, I worried about discussions, you worried about the site, and we both gave only partially correct answers. JumpMyBones wanted to know about both, and from the two of us the answer is (thankfully) complete - use the site, be aware we may move back to CHYOO, and don't discuss CHYOA anywhere else around here - and hopefully one day I can remove that "else" and be rid of this forum.

When GreenBanana's attempts to deal with a certain user got out of control, one of them was very quick to respond. The same applies when Black_Frost called them out on this kind of behavior - Laurel was immediately trying to defend against the accusation. However, when I request another moderator be appointed or request a banishment for a certain user who's broken almost every rule of Literotica repeatedly, they're nowhere to be found.

I don't know what I'd call this, but "ignored" is not one of the words that popped into my mind. Truthfully, getting back to the question by JumpMyBones, I'm more worried about someone shutting down Literotica. Besides this selective process by the leaders, Literotica doesn't even adhere to any international cyber laws passed since about 2003.

Better category name for "Transsexual"

I was a long-time lurker on the old chyoo, and now that it looks like it might survive, at least in some form, I thought I might actually make an account.

I was wondering if "Transsexual" is actually the right name for the category that it is. There's really only one story there, but I was thinking that maybe "Intersexual" might describe it better? IIRC, transsexual means that someone is transitioning between sexes, while intersex means that they are actually between sexes.

Also, thanks a ton for actually keeping chyoo alive!

Hey go give Friedman some encouragement, he has been too quiet lately :D

He only does this in his free time. He's likely busy with real life and/or work. Let's not pester him needlessly.

Thanks for your understanding.

I'm currently working on new features (on site pm, etc.). You can expect the update in about 1 week.

Was the smilie not enough to understand I wasn't serious? Jeez

chyoa needs someone like Torg active on it. If he's adopted stories on chyoo, that's a pretty good indication he should be the owner on chyoa. Which begs the question of what the adoption policy for stories was during the transfer, and what it is now that the site is live?

At the moment only the owners / creators of the stories have access. With the update next week, however, the previous editors will get access too.

Noticed the tags thing on the front page. How does one add tags to there stories?

In the thread creation/edit thread page, underneath the text field where you enter the Follow-up question, there's a text field for tagging. It's a bit hard to notice at first, but you write your tag, hit enter, and then a bubble will pop up for it. Do this for as many tags as you want/need, then just save the thread.

problem posting

Today chyoa.com stopped receiving my additions. When I try to add a new thread it gives me the form, but when I submit it instead of conformation I get a white empty page.

It may have something to do with the optimized tree traversal algorithm. I'll look into it and get back to you.

Update: It should work for now.

Hey, so, love the re-design and all that. It's fantastic. However I have noticed one problem. It appears, unless I've just missed something, that it is impossible now to just link from one thread back to another one, and it seems like where I had done this in stories on the old site, those links have been broken. This seems like a pretty important function for writing a CYOA story, because it allows me to streamline branching stories quite a bit. As it stands, "Yet Another Highschool Story" is pretty busted. I don't care so much about the old stories, but it would be nice to have this feature going forward.

According to the last notification, linking threads is the next feature to be enabled. It supposed to reactivate the old links as well as allow us to link new threads, and Friedman hasn't let us down yet.

Just a random suggestion: if possible (reads: easy) show the authors of a story (and the actual contributors?) how many have their story bookmarked.
I think it's one of the best ways to see if a story is followed\appreciated (much better than total views)
