Things that have put a smile on your face today

Sitting in the garden earlier, having a relaxing smoke, basking - whale like (no, that was not me on the beach thank you Abs) in the warm afternoon sun, taking in the sounds of bird song in the trees and shrubs around me, revelling in the delightful absence of the sound of.......*gulp*......children (they argue and squeal a lot), and watching the incredible aeronautic display of a pair of dragonflies over the pond.

Mesmeric.
Soporific.
Calming.
*sigh*

You're not a virgin anymore.

I do so love taking a cherry and making someone smile!

Welcome to the AH by the way and please do stick around.

We're always looking for fresh meat!

Awww, shucks. Thanks for the warm welcome!

(Yes, your post brought a big smile)

Some friends of mine own the only cutlery store in the Columbus area. I help them out from time to time running a booth at knife shows and helping around the store when they need it. They also hold all hand sharpening orders for me to take care of. (appearently I have quite a fan base for that)

Last weekend they had Darrel Ralph, a prominant knife designer, as a guest for a seminar in the store. After it was over, we all went out to lunch with Darrel at the Mongolian BBQ next to the store. Darrel and his son Dirk and I had a pretty good and long conversation about knives, steels, designs etc. And in general had a pretty good time.

So today, I'm running a booth at the Ohio FOP convention and Darrel stops by. He said he had thought quite a bit about some of the things we had discussed over lunch and wanted to thank me for my input and ideas. I told him that there was no need to thank me, I enjoyed it immensely and was honored just to have lunch with him.

But he insisted and handed me a small box. His way of showing his appreciation for honest views.

Inside was a prototype of a knife he is putting into prodution soon. Hand made by him and one of only five on the face of the earth.

I suspect I will be grinning ear to ear for the next week.:D

Go, spiderman.
My favouritest driving music. Full volume, window down, laughing my ass off as I watch the world fall over when they see its a little old silver-hair lady in the car, and not a boy racer.

I can imagine, its almost impossible to keep still to their music. I end up writhing around in my seat, or tapping the steering wheel, trying not to sing along, and desperately wanting to 'air guitar'..........*sigh*.......my boys thinks I'm nuts.

When you drive a Trans Am, it's almost de riguoer (sp?) to play loud rock, ya know?

I still play air guitar, and sing my heart out, my kids love it.

My bestest friend put a smile on my face today.

One that won't be erased for a hell of a long time!!!

crawling up a long drag of a hill, second gear, long queue of traffic, hot, uncomfortable....my eyes catch sight of a sign in the garden of a large house.

Fresh horse manure.
REAL SHIT.
NO STRAW

I couldn't help it, I laughed out loud. Grinned all the way to the traffic lights.

Eeep! That sounds like an emergency situation! Is there someone I should call? I think Medusa's managing the crisis desk today.

According to Charley, I am Medusa.
I'll just spend a few hours encased in ice and I should be fine.
