LOL. It may not have been active for a bit, but it's still in my subscribed list... so you posted and it popped up. :)

Mostly done (w/ my job, xmas is made easy...GIFT CERTIFICATES!!) I do, however, need to make a few cakes for this coming week... as well as get the ingredients for 1 or 2 items.

Well, that explains it. I stumbled upon it and bumped it so not to lose it. :)

Ah, good. You do know that you'll never find the ingredients in time: stores mysteriously run out of exactly what you need when you're pressed for time ;)

Ah, I've always noticed that there's only one bag of flour left and about 20 really irked grandma's looking for the exact samething

I might be in worse shape. I need to get some phyllo dough and nuts.

So, what brings you to this thread?

u just might be in worse shape. and I may be worse than I think... since they were calling for snow tonight... and EVERYONE and their mother raids the stores at the slightest inkling of snow or ice. (sigh)

This thread...well, I like fairies.... I've been known to hunt Fairystones (staurelite crystals), AND I belong to a grove that has a base of fairy lore. :) seemed good enough to me.:)

We're doomed  :D

Well, that's a very good reason to be here. ;) And I was going to ask about the Fairystones in your profile to keep the conversation going a little longer. I looked into Faery lore a while back.

very nice picture LT. :)

a turducken is something that has been out a few years. they start w/ deboning a chicken and stuffing it w/ 1 type of dressing, then stuff a deboned duck into that w/ cornmeal dressing, and THEN they stuff it all into a deboned turkey. so you pretty much have your choice of meats. Never tried it, but seen it a few times on the food network.

lol. You should try looking up staurelite crystals on the web to get a bit more information on them. They contain iron, and 2 other minerals (can't think at the moment) and depending on which mineral is more prevalent, can alter the color of the stone. They can also vary from a 0-7 on hardness.

There is a legend about the stones. That the fairies lived in Patrick Co (that's where I have to drive to hunt) and when Jesus was crucified, a messenger was sent out to the 4 corners to spread the news. When the fairies heard, they were so saddened over the death of such a good man that they wept. Everywhere their tears landed, the stones turned to crosses in his honor.

(sorry for rambling... they a wee bit of a passion of mine... tho compared to 1 fellow in that area, I'm calm. lol. He's actually opened a museum to them and has traveled to the few other areas in the US that have them also (1 is in GA).

I'm off to beddy bye... got a triple chocolate cake in the crock pot cooking, the Amish friendship cake is a cooling, and it's LATE!! :D

I did look them up but couldn't find the ledgend about them; just the mundane facts. My Father has a few of them. He was going to make them into necklaces, but never got around to it.

Cake in a crock pot? I don't think I've heard of that before.

Hmmmmm.. I wonder if there's a low carb substitute for cornmeal dressing?

not many have, tho the triple chocolate mess has been mentioned on the food network (I saw 1 program recently that mentioned some bed and breakfast that hosted parties called "death by chocolate" and would have a crockpot set up w/ the cake.

I'll also look on the web later to try and find the websites on the crystals.

LT, not sure about the alternative to the dressing, but sometimes ya just gotta be bad. :)
