IrishWolfHound - I'd heard that once, too, but I wasn't sure if I'd heard it right or not. Is it also true that there are "faery paths" that people don't want to build their houses on?

I've heard that, as well.

Read Synge's essays on the Aran Isles. He talks about hearing the call of the sidhe one night. Gave me shivers.

Among the Celts they say that those born with a dark ring on the iris of the eyes are fey (or fae). That they have the sight. I'm one of such. Nothing I can control...just that some times I simply know things that I'd not know any other way.

I have heard something similar to this, except it wasn't a dark ring. More of a golden sunburst ring around the pupil. A friend of mine who has an example of it is the 1 who told me. She does have some psychic ability; however, I know many who don't have the ring who are more intuitive than her (just an observation of personal experience and by no means a challenge of your abilities, Wolf. :) ) There are many "signs" of psychic abilities that have been passed down (like the old saying about the 7th son of the 7th son.....or mystic crosses that are found in palm reading).

LT, that book that I told ya about on the other thread is suppose to have an oil to make that is suppose to open up the connection between humans and fairies. :)

A few caveats to consider...

From the Foreword of "Faeries" by Brian Froud and Alan Lee:

"The fact is, they will either accept you as a part of their world, or they won't. It's up to them..."

"It must always be remembered that though the world of Faerie is to a large extent dependent on humans, faeries are alien creatures with values and ethics far removed from mankind; they do not think, and most notably, they do not feel, the way that humans do."

(Yes, I just got that book in the mail today, heheh)

Good evening everyone.....

The posts of text and pictures are quite something.... Can get me thinking of the Celtic islands and all that means........

Is it also true that there are "faery paths" that people don't want to build their houses on?

Greetings, it may be possible that these "paths" are also the lay lines (or ley lines, I've seen both spellings) that crisscross the planet. These are magnetic lines, the largest convergence of which (that I know of personally, having been there) is in Sedona area of Arizona. A possiblity suggested for further research.

"Our myths and legends are buy memories of our future." -I think I first saw that line in a Robert Anton Wilson book, but cannot recall if he was quoting someone else as well. In essences, we are becoming what we are thinking.

Think on.

weren't the masons suppose to be an ancient society (just happens they've carried forward, tho don't know enough about them now to know if they may still remember secrets of old) that knew how to build along the ley lines??

As for Sedona, not heard of ley lines there, but have heard of vortexes there. A friend went to visit there back in 1995, and had to sleep in the next town due to the energy being so strong. Louise is VERY intuned w/ energy.

These are really lovely pictures, LT. Thanks for sharing them with us. Fairy pictures are simply beautiful. :rose:

I dunno if Masons knew that or not, but I did hear that some Irish citizens will ask a local wise woman about these lines so that they won't build a house on them. One time a house was inadvertently built on a ley line and the owner had it torn down to avoid bad luck; another person moved their whole house off a ley line....

I've got a few questions for everyone.....

Some places list Dagda as the father of Danu, and others list him as her son.

Which is true?

And where would I find a good resource on Tuatha de Danaan names and surnames (which predate Celtic/Milesian names)?

Thanks :)

Lovely, untethered creatures.

Do you think Tinkerbell was a good representative of real faeries?

No, I wouldn't think that Tinkerbell has much at all to do with real Fae. Disney would never want to do a real fae in their cartoons. Fae do not think like humans do, or have the same morals that we do
