The documents had also never been requested / sought by the National Archives.

The warrant itself is completely inconsequential. What makes the case is what reason was given to the magistrate in the form of an affidavit to justify this type of warrant to search the premis of a former president. Short of having the nuclear launch codes there is no justification. The records act has never been a reason for prosecution that I know of. There are no criminal charges filed. This is, in my opinion, a fishing expedition hoping to find evidence that would tie into J/6. The scope of the warrant was so intrusive it stands to reason that this search has an alternative agenda. It boils down to one investigation working in concert with another. The magistrate is compromised, should have recused himself and sent the request to a federal judge.

I have been level headed about this and other criminal cases right from their inception. I don’t fall for anyone’s knee jerk reactions. Time after time I’ve suggested that we wait for the facts and if criminal behavior is charged and a conviction follows then let the chips fall where they may. The whole "laws are for thee but not for me" syndrome that seems to be infesting our political class from top to bottom. The documents that Trump had were packed and inventoried BEFORE they ever went to Mar a Lago. Those documents were stored in a SCIF. The only comment made about the SCIF was that a second lock should be added, and it was. The documents were known to be there and there was no denial of their existence, the argument was/is over classification status.

The argument over classification status IS a legitimate difference of opinion...........fine, let the courts sort it out.
