Re: The legend of the sad Sioux

this is the tale of a great sioux warrior that live in an area near her called "Windy Lake" which gets it's name from the severe winds that blow off of it. Boaters and canoeists have a difficult time navigating across these waters when the wind picks up and is a sailors delight. In the wintere when the ice is smooth Ice boaters can really pick up a lot of speed going across the ice. At one part of this lake is a provincial park by the same name. Nearby is a boyscout camp.

According to the legend, before the whites had settled in this area ther was a Sioux Warrior and his bride to be out for a canoe trip to the opposite shoreline where they were to gather some much needed provisions for their village. A strong wind capsized and the woman drowned. Her body was never found. The warrior was very upset at this and continued his search never returning to the shore so he too subsequently died from a combination of exposure, dehydration and hunger.

Sometimes, when the moon is full, and one looks out on the lake, the ghostly shadow of the warrior can be seen still looking for his lost love. many a scout or scout leader have seen this apparition.

BTW: when does cubscout become a boyscout?

When he eats his first brownie.

LOL that was good eats his first brownie......I like that story very good:kiss:

Now this is weird......strange

She gave birth to what?

One morning around 5am 22 year old Susan DeLucci of Kittery, Maine, woke up with a painful need to urinate. At first she thought she had diarrhea, but when she stood up out of bed, she realized that it was urinary pain.

It was very similar to the feeling of having diarrhea, just out the wrong hole. She wobbled to the toilet and upon sitting on it, her vagina erupted into the most horrific messy farting noise anyone has ever heard.

In paralyzing pain, Ms. DeLucci for the next few minutes continued to push and squirt out of her vagina a burning tide of wretch and filth while she gripped the sides of the toilet, white-knuckled. She was screaming wildly, and the neighbors called the police. When medics arrived they found Ms. DeNucci unconscious lying on the floor of her bathroom wearing nothing but her bath robe.

Running down her leg, was a stream of brown and green syrup. The medic had to transfer her to a stretcher, so he grabbed her left leg which was bent crossing her other leg, to straighten her out. She was lying there all twisted up. When he lifted her left leg to straighten her body out, he exposed her vagina at which point a creature, no larger than the tip of a finger wormed its way out of her genitals and landed on the floor with a wet popping sound.

Shocked, the medic stared at the creature that was lying on the tile bathroom floor in a casing of mucous. It was a tiny mud shrimp and it sat there on the cold floor gasping for water while flipping itself back and forth.

The horrified medic turned to the toilet as he felt the nausea setting in. When he put his face down into the toilet to puke what he saw was so horrific that to this day he cannot look into a toilet without convulsing.

The entire toilet bowl was boiling with baby brown mud shrimp flipping and splashing at a furious pace.

If you think that is bad - wait until you hear how it happened: Ms. DeLucci's death was the result of a combination of shock and severe head trauma. She stood up over the toilet in pain and when she saw what she had done, she went into shock and fell, smashing her head on the toilet and then on the floor.

It is believed by police that two nights before the accident she had purchased a live lobster at a fish market. While lying in a tub, she gently inserted the creature's tail into her vagina to derive physical pleasure.

At that point, she held a lighter under the creature's face causing it to flip its tail in a violent snapping motion. The medics found a lesbian XXX video in the VCR and the TV was positioned on a table in front of the tub.

The lobster was found in the kitchen garbage can wrapped in a paper bag.

Traces of Ms. DeLucci's DNA were found on the lobster along with pubic hairs that had wedged themselves between the lobsters' tail joints. The lobster's face was lightly burned with the same fuel used in lighters.

The lobster's digestive track and colon were found to be full of mud shrimp egg casings. Doctors believe that the lobster had eaten them (they are common in the water at fish markets and are usually harmlessly boiled to death) and the lobster had crapped them out into Ms. DeLucci's vagina when she was torturing it. Maine mud shrimp only take two days to gestate and Ms. DeLucci was only four days away from getting her period.

Doctors believe that at that point of her menstrual cycle, her womb was the perfect PH balance to grow these mud shrimp which are a much larger version of the popular "Sea Monkey" pets sold throughout the US. Overnight the eggs had hatched and the mud shrimp began doubling in size every ten minutes!!!

You can imagine the pain she was in when she woke up that morning and gave birth to well over 1,000 mud shrimp in her toilet.........

1. Mama Cass Elliott died from choking on a ham sandwich.
( not beyond reason)

2. In 1987, two men living in California found a human finger in a can of menudo (a food made from beef tripe).
( Highly unlikely)

3. When a brewing tank ruptured in Boston, a slow flood of molasses caused the deaths of more than 20 people.
(Yes it really happened. I saw it on TLC or Discovery)

4. A 12-foot alligator was found living in the sewers of Manhattan.
(not at all plausible, Reptiles need heat and sunshine in order to survive)

5. A nervous golfer chewing on a wooden tee died from ingesting the toxic chemicals used by the golf club to maintain the course.
(more likely he could have gotten really sick but not beyond reason that he might've died)

6. A fired employee trying to commit suicide by jumping out of a window landed on and killed the boss who had just fired him.
(hmmm, I think that in a lot of places when someone is fired they are escorted from the premises so tehr isn't any trouble, at least in my job they are)

7. Opera singer Maria Callas intentionally swallowed a tape worm in an attempt to control her weight.
(Could be, I once saw on "ripleys" that a man swallowed a tape worm prior to going on a trip to Mexico so he could drink the water [among other things] and eat to his heart's content without getting sick. When he got home he took the appropriate medicine and flushed it out of his body.

8. Thomas Edison, an opponent of capital punishment, aided the development of the electric chair in a misguided effort to discredit rival George Westinghouse.
(I think this is true. Ironic though it may be)

9. A girl babysitting on Thanksgiving killed the child she was caring for by accidentally putting the baby in the oven instead of the turkey.
(I heard that one too but it was dispelled as a myth only. Similar to the lady who dried her poodle in the microwave)

10. A high school student was killed on prom night by a black widow spider hiding in her elaborate hairdo.
(no, I don't think so. Again I saw a similar story on "urban legend"

Well those are my responses. I await the results. :p

another legend before bed

St. Louis Cemetery No. 1

In the famous old city of New Orleans, just outside the colorful and infamous French Quarter lies a crumbling ancient cemetery with a eerie notoriety of its own. This cemetery is well known for mysterious happenings and vaporous apparitions, it is also the final resting place of Marie Laveau (1794-1881), otherwise known as the "Voodoo Queen of New Orleans."

Unlike conventional cemeteries that are laid out as neat rows in grid like patterns, the St. Louis No. 1 is a unique, twisting labyrinth of narrow walkways. These narrow footpaths wind their way through serenely beautiful marble mausoleums, massive wall vaults, and dilapidated unmarked tombs. Walking through this ancient necropolis in the wee hours of the morning can be an unnerving and eerie experience, in fact many visitors have reported strange encounters with the spectral inhabitants of the graveyard.

Since 1881, an apparition of the Voodoo Priestess, Marie Laveau, has materialized many times in the narrow passages of the cemetery. Her tomb has become a shrine to those interested in Voodoo or the occult. In the cover of darkness, practitioners perform secret Voodoo rituals. Practitioners often leave small offerings, scratching three X’s with a piece of soft red brick on the crypt and knocking three times on the wall of the tomb; believers do this to request special favors or invoke spells.

Marie Laveau was said to have been well over 100 years old when she died, yet she was reported to have been as beautiful and vibrant as any 25 year old woman. It can only be assumed that her devotion to the practice of Voodoo held the secret to her eternal beauty. Perhaps it is the pursuit of this enduring youth and beauty that compels the Voodoo practitioners to pay homage to Marie Laveau to this day.

With numerous unmarked and crumbling tombs within the necropolis, unexplained phenomena seems to be common place. Strange mournful sounds emanating from the cavernous crypts and inexplicable glowing vaporous masses have startled countless numbers of people wandering the ancient cemetery. In one area of the cemetery, the ghostly image of a man’s face frequently appears on the wall of a tomb, as if he is looking out from someplace on the other side of reality

IS THAT YOUR FINALE ANSWER?

Answers to The Quiz

1. Mama Cass Elliott died from choking on a ham sandwich.

FALSE. There was a partially-eaten sandwich on Mama Cass's nightstand when she died, but she died of heart failure, not choking. Urban legends often target celebrities. This is one of many celebrity legends covered in the book.
2. In 1987, two men living in California found a human finger in a can of menudo (a food made from beef tripe).

FALSE. This widely-reported legend, like many others covered in the book, was based on a true incident. The men found what they thought was a finger, but further analysis proved it was a piece of connective tissue commonly found in tripe. This is one of the many food-related urban legends covered in the book.
3. When a brewing tank ruptured in Boston, a slow flood of molasses caused the deaths of more than 20 people.

TRUE. On January 15, 1919, over 2 million gallons of molasses spilled from a ruptured tank, unleashing a 30-foot-tall tidal wave of black goo into Boston's north end, killing 21 people and injuring another 150.
4. A 12-foot alligator was found living in the sewers of Manhattan.

FALSE. No alligators large enough to seriously harm a human have ever been found in the sewers of New York. It is too cold for alligators to survive the winter down there. This is one of several urban legends discussed in the book where nature retaliates against the human race.
5. A nervous golfer chewing on a wooden tee died from ingesting the toxic chemicals used by the golf club to maintain the course.

TRUE. In 1982, U.S. Navy Lieutenant George M. Prior died from an allergic reaction to the fungicide Daconil after chewing on a golf tee at the Army-Navy Country Club in Arlington, Virginia. This is one of many bizarre but true urban legends tracked down for this book.
6. A fired employee trying to commit suicide by jumping out of a window landed on and killed the boss who had just fired him.

FALSE. Many urban legends are morality tales, where people who have been cruel or abusive get their just rewards. Our belief in karma keeps these myths alive. Just because they aren't true doesn't mean we can't enjoy the many examples of justice served up in this book.
7. Opera singer Maria Callas intentionally swallowed a tape worm in an attempt to control her weight.

FALSE. This example of celebrity mythmaking has some basis in truth. Maria Callas did, at one time, have a tapeworm removed -- but she never swallowed it intentionally. Many urban myths reveal our prejudices against other races, genders, or lifestyle choices -- in this case, large prima donnas.
8. Thomas Edison, an opponent of capital punishment, aided the development of the electric chair in a misguided effort to discredit rival George Westinghouse.

TRUE. Edison thought a demonstration of the potential for alternating current to kill people on contact would result in the State of New York adopting his less-efficient direct current method for powering homes and businesses. Instead, it inspired the State of New York to build the country's first electric chair.
9. A girl babysitting on Thanksgiving killed the child she was caring for by accidentally putting the baby in the oven instead of the turkey.

FALSE. Many holidays come with legends firmly attached, such as Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. And babysitters are a favorite target of both urban legends and horror movies. While rarely true, caretaker calamities are a favorite at summer camps everywhere.
10. A high school student was killed on prom night by a black widow spider hiding in her elaborate hairdo.

FALSE. This legend dates back to the 1950s when big hair architecture was all the rage, and parents found something sinister in high hair. Like many urban legends, it was given new life on the silver screen, when director John Waters included a variation featuring cockroaches in his movie, Hairspray.

Banff Springs Hotel, Alberta Canada

Nestled in the heart of the awe inspiring Canadian Rockies, Banff Springs Hotel is world famous for it's regal ambiance and sumptuous accommodations. This incredible 100-year old castle is also a historic landmark. Built in 1886 by William Cornelius Van Horne, then General Manager of the Canadian Pacific Railroad. Van Horne oversaw the challenge to drive the historic railway through the Canadian Rockies. Banff Springs Hotel opened in 1888, and has been a favorite haunt of the rich and famous ever since.

With such a rich and colorful history, it is not surprising to hear tales of guests and loyal employees who have lingered on, even beyond their departure from life.

One very sad and tragic tale involves a young bride and her elegant wedding party in the hotel's grand ballroom. It seems that on the day of the young woman's wedding, she was descending the ornate marble staircase in her beautiful flowing white wedding gown. And, as the story goes, an unexpected breeze (presumably from an open door or window) twisted the gown's flowing train into her path, causing her to stumble. Attempts by the groom to catch-hold of his young wife were in vain, and she fell to her death on the polished marble tiles below. To this day, there are recurring reports of a fleeting vision of a beautiful girl in a long flowing white dress dancing in the ballroom or descending the staircase. At other times, people have commented on brief but chilling breezes brushing past them on the grand staircase.

In another tale, guests over the years have encountered a helpful and courteous bellman named Sam, who has opened locked doors, helped with lighting, and even parcels. When the guests of the ninth floor (Sam's favorite floor) try to engage Sam in conversation or attempt to tip him for his services, he very quickly departs, "almost into thin-air" as one guest put it. Guests who inquire about Sam are always stunned to learn that Sam passed-away many years ago.

GOOD NIGHT

GOOD NIGHT AND ONE LAST STORY UNTIL TOMORROW

Memorial Hall, Dayton Ohio

Constructed in 1909, Dayton's impressive Memorial Hall is listed on the National Historic Register. In addition to hosting numerous public performances and private events, it is home to the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. It is also home to the spirit of a gentleman who once cared for the property.

In the late 1960's, a custodian working alone in overhead rigging slipped and fell into the orchestra pit and was severely injured. The man lay alone in the darkness of the theater for hours until discovered by his co-workers. The custodian, a long time caretaker of the theater, later passed on as a result of his unfortunate accident. Shortly thereafter, strange, unexplained occurrences began and have continued to this day.

Frequently, theater employees and stage hands are startled by sounds in the rigging above. Sounds of scuffing or distinct foot steps, sometimes accompanied by the sound of creaking metal are those most often reported (no one is ever on the overhead catwalks when these phenomena occur.) Lighting systems have been known to exhibit strange behavior, strangely flickering or pulsing for no apparent reason. Common objects, like brooms and mops, have been moved, and others report hearing running water and toilets flushing when no one else is in the building.

It causes one to reflect, that as we have purpose and commitment in life, we must also have purpose and commitment in death.

Just wanted to stop by and say "HI" to everyone. Kind of hectic today, my bf's mom is coming home for a couple weeks so need to tidy the house a bit although I'm not suppose to do anything except rest (boring staying in bed alone with nothing to do that's fun, lol).

Take care and until later Aloha,
Shadow

The first chapter to my story finally got posted on the 23rd. It's entitled "Unbridled Lust"; waiting for second chapter to be posted (if it hasn't yet).
Let me know what y'all think; it's my first endeavor in writing a story, usually I write poetry but that's normally when I'm bummed out and stuff.

(speaking in a whisper)The camp fire burns wickedly tonight

Cities of the Dead and Vampire Tales: New Orleans, Louisiana

The centuries-old, above ground cemeteries of New Orleans, are icons to an earlier time. These hauntingly beautiful "cities of the dead" came into existence due to the unusually high water table under the old city. The soggy earth made under ground burial impossible before modern drainage systems were devised. On dark stormy nights it was not uncommon for caskets to literally pop out of the ground and float down the streets. Of course, this was quite unsettling for the residents, and after a few unpleasant incidences, above ground burial was agreed to as the only secure solution.

These eerily beautiful and unique cemeteries have also served as an inspiration to numerous film producers and authors such as New Orleans resident, Anne Rice in crafting her haunting, gothic horror stories of vampires and the undead. "Interview With The Vampire, The Vampire Chronicles," a spellbinding screen adaptation of Anne Rice’s best seller, was filmed with Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 as the backdrop. This ornate gothic necropolis figures prominently in Anne’s books, as the macabre refuge of the vampire Lestat

Can you hear the cry in the wind?

What a delight to tell our story as we sit in the very spot Red Lady killed herself as we tell her tale. The hot breeze is turning an Icey cold and even a strange cold dew can't be felt on ones face. Hold on tightly to the one your sitting next to you......

Huntingdon College,
Montgomery, Alabama.

*The Red Lady of Pratt*

For many years now, the Pratt dormitory has been the persistent haunt of a ghostly spirit known as the "Red Lady." While no one knows the source of the disturbances for sure, the legend suggests that the "Red Lady" was a quiet, unpopular, and lonely student. Try as she might she found it virtually impossible to make friends. In fact the more she tried, the more she was ridiculed and ostracized (teens can be very cruel and stupid at times). They also found humor in the fact that she never wore any color but red, and taunted her over that as well. Disillusioned and distraught, the young woman eventually hanged herself in her room.

To this day, students have reported surprise, late night encounters with a young woman dressed in red who seems to quickly vanish through closed doors and even through walls. In recent times, and in a few isolated cases, a chilling blast of air rips through rooms in the dorm, and strange creaking sounds come from various corners of the room when ever malicious students pick on, or harass others.

Ghost on the Green

In addition to the "Red Lady," there is another ghost on campus. The "Ghost on the Green" appears to be the specter of a young man. This legend offers that a young man was shunned by a girlfriend that had criticized him for being too needy and too clinging. After she broke off the relationship, the young man tried and tried to get her to see him again. She repeatedly refused. Unable to cope with the rejection, the young man went to the campus green in the dead of night and shot himself in the head. While it was certainly a tragic event for the college, life goes on and soon the campus was back to normal . . . well almost anyway.

While no one has reported seeing vaporous figures or glowing orbs, many people claim he still walks the green. Crossing the green at night has become a very nervous topic of discussion at Huntington. Each year, quite a number of students report getting very spooked, feeling something suddenly tugging on their clothes, mussing up their hair, and even blowing in their ear.

thanks for the answer lists! I was curious about some of those...

Thank you for your kind words. :D The second chapter is now out and it's strange seeing my story online. Got a few responses and it's good constructive criticism which I expected. Will try to get the last few chapters submitted before I go in for surgery on the 16th of July (will be out of commission for about a month or so; possibly having my back fused  ).

Take care and until later ALOHA!

GOOD MORNING

Stickney Mansion
Crystal Lake, IL

Crystal Lake is a popular and booming northwest suburb of Chicago. Growth is so dramatic that homes are likely to sell nearly as soon as they go on the market. However, just north of the city, a bit off of the beaten path, you'll find a rather unusual but large stately home that no one seems to want.

This remnant of the past, was built in 1849 by George and Sylvia Stickney. Unfortunately, George and Sylvia (or someone) still appears to inhabit the house. Persistent disembodied sounds and strange occurrences night or day, have caused more recent owners to abruptly vacate the house and give it back to the Stickneys.

The Stickneys were seriously involved in the Spiritualist Movement that was considered to be fashionably vogue in the Victorian era.

The house started to gain it's rather dark and sinister reputation early in its existence. The Stickneys were known to hold frequent and numerous séances in the house, and socialites from Chicago and other mid-western cities, traveled to the remote country house in hopes of communicating with the dear departed.

A rather unique architectural characteristic of the house, is that it was built almost exclusively without corners. One set of Spiritualist beliefs theorized that evil could sometimes be trapped or lurk in the corners of a normally shaped square room.

Only one room in the house was built with a 90-degree corner. Allegedly, it was in this corner that George Stickney was found dead with a frozen terrified expression on his face, and his hands clutching at his throat. His exact cause of death, however, remains a mystery.

Must be the meds I'm taking...I can't seem to recall the legends I've grown up with. Oh well, guess that means I've mush for brains lately

Life will change hopefully for the better but only time will tell. I've a man who cares deeply and will not allow me to "give up" as I've wanted to a number of times recently feeling so down about the way my life has been recently...can't walk, sit up or stand very long and I've always been a person who "can never keep still for more than a minute". Oh well, thanks for your kindness.

Take care all and I'll try to keep y'all posted. My stories have been receiving pretty good reviews and Erotica was that you that rated it a 100? If it was thank you very much. There was an anonymous feedback and I'm guessing it was someone who knew about it.

LEGEND

In the woods just North of Palatka, Florida and primarily in the area of Barden is a legend of a beast.

Typical "big foot legend" with an apelike creature approximately 7 feet tall that has never been captured.

Almost anyone in Palatka can tell you about it, but few claim to have seen it.

I have been on a "Booger Hunt" (seemed like a good idea at the time), but I have never seen or heard the animal. I was hoping someone might know more about it.

{Maybe it is the ghost of a Timucuan (Native American), as their average height was approximately 6'7" with 7' tall people being quite normal.

LEGEND

This legend takes place in the theatre across the street from the University of Tampa.

A long time ago two college students in the theatre program at UT were deeply in love. The girl's name is Rose, but the Guy's name escapes me. Rose got pregnant by this guy, but it didn't worry her, because it was a perfect opporotunity for her to marry her beloved boyfriend. Then the tragedy struck. She found out that her love had strayed, so in her jealousy, she commited suicide. The method I most often hear is that she hung herself in by a rafter in the ceiling of the prop room, where she currently resides for all eternity. Her favorite color is red, by the way.

Since she was so hopelessly devoted to her man, several weird things occur:

Obviously, the cliche' "You can here her crying late at night" thing goes on.

Also, she loves men. In fact, One of my friends claims that a guy was about to fall off of some scaffolding, and a mysterious force caught him mid-fall,saving his life.

Also, it's been reported that she'll hug various guys around the stage.

When she appears, it's always in a red dress.

If any OTHER women are wearing red, she'll make an attempt on their life. My friend claims that she was almost pushed off the cat walk when wearing a red dress.

If you leave a Rose on the Rafter at night, It'll be gone in the morning.
