I live in Australia and grew up on Delta Creams. Same idea as Oreos but much nicer. I'd like to try a Hydrox though.

Hydrox were made with more natural ingredients eg sugar over corn syrup. At the time, more chemically based ingredients were entering the food market. So, while Hydrox sounds more chemical than Oreos,Hydrox was a combination of Hydrogen and Oxygen. Bad name, bad marketing, but potentially better biscuit.

Hydrox were a heartier cookie, best ones to take when camping in tents and popup trailers. They had more sugar, less hydrogenated oils, and were cheaper, which was the most important selling point in the early 70s.

Cookies are just a type of biscuit. The name biscuit comes from French and refers to the cooking process (twice cooked).
