What Are You Listening to Now 7.0

Drank my Kpod of Tanzania this morning. It was only a monthly special when I ordered it and was already gone from the selections when I checked to reorder. "One of these days, Alice – Pow! Right to the moon..."

For the record, I only know about this line from the old SitCom The Honeymooners, because my dad quoted it a few times and explained it to me. We did watch a few of them on YouTube or some service but it didn't impress me enough to even remember the line.

I just listened to "Is This Love," by WhiteSnake. The DJ referred to the band as an example of the "Hair, Metal, Glam Band of the 80s." I guess that makes them an amalgamation of all the rock cliches of the 1980s. I think I would have called them a Metal, Hair, Glam Band, but that's me. I believe Metal Hair sounds better than Hair Metal.

is this love

The question being asked whether is life after Serena Williams, and her sister Venus being discussed, my mind naturally went to Bowie's "Life on Mars?"

Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill

No, I didn't watch Stranger Things. I've had a massive crush on Kate Bush ever since I saw that video on MTV, 1987-ish. :)

On the before my time, 70-through now front, Chicago just released album #38. Please remember, the name of the album for Chicago is always the number. It shows a certain obsessiveness in naming, or, a certain lack of creativity, which I can't associate with the group. OH, what time is it anyway?

25 or 6 to Four, you silly goose

The Halo Effect - Days Of The Lost (album)

This is turning into my 2022 album of the year. It's basically In Flames with the vocalist of Dark Tranquility and they're firing off a Greatest Hits of the Gothenburg melodic death metal sound. Iron-Maiden like twin guitar leads? Fuck yes! Fast and furious drumming? Not as much as I was hoping for, but what's there is fantastic. Grooves to headbang to? You bet. And the best thing? No Anders Fridén stinking up the joint with his horrible shout/croak/singing. It's either hoarse barking or - in two songs - beautiful, clean vocals. Despite feeling very familiar and at times nostalgic even, these tunes sound fresh and energetic, to the point where even Dani asked "What? Over already?" 40 minutes seldom go by that fast.

Between this album, the new Soilwork and a new discovery called Katakomba, I'm in tune with my old, death metal loving self again.

Soft Sell Tainted Love, Gloria Shadows of the Night, Chicago Feeling Stronger Every Day, Lionel RichieRunning With The Night, Mariah Carey My All, Crosby Stills/Nash Wasted On The Way, The Beatles Sun King

Still on an Elliott kick. The gig in this video was the first time I saw him. This was the song I wanted to hear more than anything else.

A search for 'djembé musique', amongst other things, turned up this little gem. Yemi, high heels, and afro dance. H/T Bubo bubo.
