What Are You Nosey About Today?? 🦝

I’m nosey bout what you put in your coffee or tea.

Nothing. Coffee should stand on its own, and that's the way I like it.

I'm not much of a tea drinker, but when I do have some, nothing goes in it either.

I'm nosey about people's nerdisms...what things do you just completely nerd out over?

Are you a Trekkie? A Star Wars fiend? Harry Potter?

Do you geek out over History? Art? Music?

Are you a Dungeon master? Scrabble enthusiast?

All of the above?

I recently learned about something called The Society for Creative Anachronism ( or SCA) which is an educational organization devoted to the research and re-creation of pre-seventeenth century skills/art/combat/culture/etc.. and Im kinda wanting to check it out but I dont know if I could get full on into wearing pre-seventeenth century garb just to learn how to make my own dye and clothing, or how to scribe ...but I do need some hobbies soon.

So spill the beans, what is something you nerd out over? (aka, what is something that you are super passionate about that sparks joy in you)
Ok here goes!!

I love star wars, but i personally feel that star trek is better... Not the "new" treks. But everything up to and including the jjverse was awesome!!

But I am one of the few trekkies that i know of that also played varsity sports. Not saying there arent others... I just havent met any.

So whilst i can have a basic conversation with you in klingon, and wookie. I can also, in great detail, describe the "left wing lock" and have a passionate discussion about the universal DH.

As far as nerdisms... I would just say that "organisation will set you free!" And "if its not a right angle, its a wrong angle" haha.

May the force be with you.

Live long and prosper.

Go Jays go!!!

Ahem. I love this question.

I'm a Harry Potter nerd, a Stephen King (and a general horror/spooky nerd), and a fair bit ot Star Wars (I got this the through marital osmosis though)

I love board games and RPGs. I play D&D with a crew of great guys regularly and am starting preparing to DM again soon! I love world building and collaborative story telling.

(OK off to do something sexy to balance out the nerd stink)

None of the above but wife is a total all of those nerds. And don't get her started on Disney.
I'm a beer and weed nerd. The voices in my head love it. Yoga for the body. Weed and yoga? Hilarious.

Oh, I like iced coffee, too. I make it with my Nespresso. A W E S O M E! Have to go decaf though, no one likes a hyper, pumpkin headed squirrel.

I don't drink tea. I love coffee, espresso in particular.
I have the espresso machine and I like my coffee with no sugar. Sometimes I might put a bit of milk but that's about it.

I'm into History, Art and Music.
I'm also into Tolkien and GRRM. But more into Tolkien and I am a member of Tolkien Society here.

I don't drink tea very much, but when I do it's straight

LOVE coffee & espresso drinks, but they have to be strong. I like strong coffee with just a little milk to take the edge off. No lattes - too milky - but a good cappuccino or macchiato are great. And iced of any of those are acceptable at any time of year.

—trivia about obscure TV shows
—contemplating the shades of meanings in words

I’m definitely a music nerd, I absolutely cannot imagine living without it. It makes me full of joy and passion hehe
I also love all things Vampire and Zombie’s. Not sure if that makes me a nerd though ha!

Yes: Star Wars, Star Trek, HP, lots of sci-fi... I've been to several SCA events, I like cosplay. I play folk, bluegrass, and jam-rock music. I'm very good at chess and other strategy games. I like D&D but don't have the time to dedicate to it.

I like fancy coffee drinks but I mostly drink Earl Grey tea with cream and sugar. :)

"ruin" these drinks? You're dead to me. Only people with no souls drink it black. ;):D

Ehh, I can live with being "soulless" so long as I get my black iced americano :)

And yes, milk, cream, sugar, flavoring, etc - they ruin a really good blend.

YES!!!
I love Tolkien and I'm an avid Whovian. I love strategy board games and different RPG's. I was until very recently part of a regular D&D group, although that seems to have fallen by the wayside the past couple months - I need to give our DM a kick in the pants. If that doesn't pick back up, can I join your group, PLP?

I also love history and read a lot of historical fiction - mostly either ancient Rome or Tudor England (those seem to be two very popular time periods for the genre these days). But I'll read just about anything, really.

There's lots more, but if I start to go through the list we'll be here all day.

Anything technology. I'm geeky about it all and love to find equally geeky conversation. Not like let's talk about the new features of the iPhone 13, but more like let's chat about public key encryption algorithms and quantum computing theory.

Biology. I've been nerdy about this my whole life. I bought a bunch of college bio text books from a thrift store when I was like 12 and with ^, bio-tech makes me giddy.

I have a lot in the slightly nerdy category...but these are the big ones.

My inner nerd loves science-fiction and I can totally get my nerd on talking about books, movies, TV series, and short films. Slightly downstream from that I love the little figures (like micro-machines) of various fictional science fiction vehicles. I think the greatest movie ever made was "Blade Runner" and I totally nerded out over "The Expanse" recently. Loved the books too. On the RP side, I always enjoyed science-fictiony role playing games. I haven't in some years (life intervenes) but look forward to taking it back up.

(I strongly recommend the SCA for both the artistry and the social part of it, though I am not a member I have several friends who are and they love it, and I've been to various events and gatherings and in general, I find them to be a great "nerd" tribe.)

I was totally into you until I found out you were a Red Wingnut. ;) Man I miss the rivalry. Good win last night even if it was only pre-season.

Ahahahah. I haven't been watching lately. Since Covid started I haven't watched much sport except football and the Olympics.

I actually became a fan of Red Wings because of the Russian Five, early in the 90s.
I always loved the URSS school.

Oh. Well if you're not THAT invested, I guess we can be friends again. Hockey is definitely IMO the least appreciated sport that is played around the world.

It is a beautiful game. I actually started watching it when I was very young because of Figure Skating. But the sports that I'm truly invested, meaning that I know the history, I know all the rules and athletes, and I have "my team" that I support, are football and Figure Skating.

I've always been in to fantasy type books, and some sci-fi. Then Star Trek the Next Generation came out when I was in high school and I was hooked on that. I had seen Star Wars before that, but it never got me as much as Star Trek. I have even been to a convention.

I think I liked Star Trek so much because I've also always been a bit of a logic nerd. I always loved those puzzles where you had to figure out who lived next to whom & had which pet or something like that.

I also get nerdy over languages, especially the psychology of language, and technology.
