What makes you feel like a true adult?

Ok this might sound kind of dumb but keep in mind I’ve been married and had a joint bank account my entire adult life until recently. Opening my own account felt huge to me.
Not dumb at all! That’s a big deal! Being in control of your own finances is huge! Congrats on reclaiming that independence!

Clean new sheets trump my clean sheets even if they are fairly new. Can I be a little jealous?

Of course, you can tell me to go buy some new ones. 😂
You could go buy some. Got my last set from Costco and they are so soft 🥰

Same for me. My parents were on my accounts. Then I got married and my wife and I had joint accounts. I recently opened checking, savings, and got a credit card. My first accounts of my own. It feels strange but exciting too. I feel all grown up that I get to decide everything about my money now.

The first time I truly felt like an “adult” was when I went into Dairy Queen and realized I could buy an ice cream cake just because. Wasn’t anyone’s birthday, no one asked me to get one, I just wanted one, so I bought one.

On a daily basis, cleaning up after the house is settled, having clothes laid out for the next day, lunches packed, just general preparedness.

I might have a different answer later, but for now...

Everything in my life is "adulting" and I would rather not sometimes. But, what really makes me feel like an adult is when my parents treat me like I don't know anything because I didn't do something their way. 🙄

Excuse me, I've managed to keep five humans alive and not live nearby for 20+ years. That didn’t change when I moved back, thanks.
