What's for dinner?

<-- is an old fart who intends on doing what's necessary so he can keep getting older.

Don't get me wrong, I like to dine out and do so fairly often. What I don't do is eat garbage food that's actually designed to get you addicted to it.

No junk food, no Starbux, no fast food, no Baskin Robins/Ben n Jerrys, no nada of any of that stuff. (Although I have been known to sneak into a donut shop on occasion, just not that More-like-Greasy-instead-of-Krispy Kreme place.)
I don't have that kind of discipline. :)

Starbucks is... I have so many words. My soul rebels against a $5 coffee. Even with whipped cream.

Once Upon A Time, I was a vegetarian. For a year and a half-ish. Bacon lured me back to the Dark Side.

If you have people, avoid hotdogs. And bacon.

I didn't either in the beginning. Since I drive to visit my clients rather than them coming to me, it was simple to just stop and grab something on the way to/from.

Until the time I spilled hot cafe mocha on my suit pants. I vowed never again and kept telling myself I don't eat in the car until I no longer needed to stop because I don't even consider it anymore. If I need to eat, I'll stop at a real restaurant or just keep going until I'm home.

I have several hole-in-the-wall greasy spoons I frequent because the food is worth stopping for and they'll fix me stuff off the menu if I ask.

Avoid sugar as much as possible. It's the worst thing you can do to your body.

Sweet and sour shrimp with rice and Japanese Showa custard.

The shrimp was cleaned, deshelled, deveined, chopped and mixed into a batter of flour, cornstarch, soy sauce, S&P, and an egg then dropped by half spoonfuls into the fryer.

Once the shrimp was done, I sauteed some onion and Jalapeno pepper before adding the shrimp into the pan and pouring the glaze over it.

The glaze is a mix of ketchup, sugar, and rice wine vinegar. A cornstarch slurry was added to thicken.

The rice was made with chicken stock and some red pepper flakes topped with Parsley for a garnish.

The Showa is just Flan with an Asian flair.

A couple of beauty shots:

*sigh*

I give up...

Naw, stick with it. Some of us post pictures some of the time.

Tonight is Leftover S'ghetti Gravy over angel hair pasta (not all dented) and all we have is Four Flavors Mexican cheese, so that's what will be used. No salad. This is No Nonsense eating tonight.

And this is the shit I get?

Funny thing is, I was halfway through my plate when it dawned on me that I cheated you out of a picture. I figured, "phuque 'im, he'll live."

Also, here Out West, there is a Very Large Chocolate Labrador Leaver who sits patiently by my chair awaiting any tidbits which might fall her way. And oddly, they do.

Dogs are the best. My dog made me eat healthy. I never gave my dog crap. Sweet potato, broccoli, carrots, fish, boiled chicken, all good stuff.

As they should.

She's a good girl. Rescue at 9 months - she killed chickens at her former home. She has a nice yard here and a Lab running mate. They bonded immediately. He is the mouth, and she is the muscle. She wasn't sure about me when we first met. I guess her former male human had been the discipline. I was a bit big and a bit loud. I toned it down a bit and she got used to me. Also, I make sure she gets treats - human leftovers.
