What's the best way...

Wow, what great information. So, is there a waiting period for playing after a wax?

I'd say that depends on how your skin reacts. Everyone is different that way but personally I'm not in much of a mood right after waxing as the whole area is super sensitive. Feels a little like a light sunburn.

Magic

OK - so thought I would spot test Magic shave cream to see if I could deal - WOW - that was frigging easy! The smell is not horrible - alittle normal dipilitory smell though, but no irritation - just a smooth circle where I tested.
I will see how it does for larger areas...
I figured I should give a few things a try and see what I liked...
Next thing will be the waxing - then i'll know how I feel about both...
everyone gives such great info!
Thanks!:rose:

Thanks so much for all the responses! I love knowing I am not the only one trying to get it all straight. And having so many people with experiences to share!
I think I'd like the waxing - have had underarms done and facial waxing, also been tattooed and pierced numerous times -so the pain doesn't bother me - worried about the $ though. The place here that I'd like to go to (the Screaming Peach) has various services for around $45 give or take a few dollars. Is this a reasonable price?
Also I am not sure what all the terms are and what they mean - regular bikini, full bikini, playboy, and brazillian...what is what? And then they have the rear wax which is this for guys? it says (all) next to it...doesn't something for the women alerady include that lower area?
Oy, I don't want to feel like a dumbass going in and saying I have no idea what I want...Also, how long does it take between waxings? I dunno how often I can spend 50 bucks and not begin to feel it elsewhere...
Which then leads me back to the Magic lotion - at least I know I can afford to keep it up...
Sorry if I am asking too many questions...:D

LMAO...sorry, just a side note, but.....The Screaming Peach? Omg...that IS funny!

we didnt get an answer to the q, how long should you wait? is it best to get it doen the day before?

It prob. depends on how you feel after, if you have sensitive skin, if you are a first- timer or used to getting waxed...I would think you'd have to wait until your skin is no longer red, irritated, or sensitive to touch...

Note:I used the Magic shave cream liberally now...I like it, it is easy, although I agree that it is hard to really get good clean lines, and get all those areas covered. Might have to enlist a partner...
I left the thinest of strips on the edge of the lips and a little bit at top, was worried about getting super close with the chemical ...although I have no irritation and may do things differently next time. I can also feel some small hairs when rubbing in opposite direction of growth, they aren't super noticeable, but I can feel them. Did anyone else notice that?

Yeah, the answer is up there just a bit: it's like a mild sunburn. How much a person can tolerate with a mid sunburn kind of tenderness in that area is highly individualized so there's no single answer that will fit everyone. (I've seen some descriptions of after wax tenderness as being extremely sensitive, like rubbing an abrasion with sandpaper and others that say it's no big deal -- to a few apparent masochists who swear that immediate sex if not sooner is the only way to recover from a waxing.

I am currently looking to put every hair in the area above my knees and below my belly button under the laser or electrologist. How much would this cost?

And how long does the hair stay gone if you wax it?

And how long does the hair stay gone if you wax it?

Spends on how long it takes to grow your hair 1/4 inch -- 3-4 weeks between waxings for most people.

I'd guess that means totally hair free for about a week to ten days before the baby fuzz sprouts and ten days to two weeks of soft fuzz until it's long enough for another waxing.

Can't figure out how to do the "reply to quotes"

How long does the hair stay gone...about 2 -3 weeks after waxing some hairs start coming back, When I can, I will tweeze those. I try to go every 4 -5 weeks any longer than that and it seems to hurt more.

How long before "playing around" for me that night...I don't seem to have much reaction to the waxing.

Easy!

If you want to quote just one person, click the "Quote" button
quote.gif
on that post.

If you want to quote multiple people, click the Multiquote button
multiquote_off.gif
on the posts you want to quote, then the Quote button on the last quote.

After that, you can snip out the unnecessary info, or highlight the relevant part and do Ctrl+B or click the
bold.gif
button at the top of the text box to make that relevant text bold.

I am also interested in a permanent solution, because waxing/shaving sucks. That, and there's back-hairs I'd like to eliminate. Anyone out there with experience with electro? Is it effective? Is it costly? I saw somewhere that you can actually buy your own electro to DIY... anyone out there done that?

Thanks!

New thoughts on Magic - ok so the hair grows back pretty fast - feel like i might as well shave everyday if I am going to use this...sigh, but hey - now i know- live and learn...
Next adventure - waxing - woo hoo! Now to get over having to let the hair grow in - argh...anythought on putting up with that?!?
Electrolisis (sp?) sounds like a good idea - have to do some research...:D

well, just got back from the sallon for my brazilian. everything went well, pretty painless, and rather quickly as well.

totally smooth front and back, now if i could just convince my wife to go get one done too.

I don't think there's much you can do about the itching. Peelings are always a good idea though.
Just hang in there. Once you've started waxing, the hair that grows back will be thinner and smoother than the hard stubble you get from shaving or depilatory cremes. Something to look forward to...I think :)

waxing

can anyone recomend some home waxing products, and where to get them?

Waxing is the easiest.

Shaving, for me, is incredibly sexual though. I enjoy rubbing on the cream...the feel of the razor. It's even better when your partner helps. ;)

i agree

but iwould like to do be able to go longer without shaving

Several years ago, I joined Sally Beauty Supply's club (it was like $5, but they gave me a $5 or $10 coupon, plus coupons monthly). A couple of months in, they had an incredible deal on a waxing kit. I got a professional wax warmer, the right wax for my skin & hair type, muslin strips, etc., for like $10 after the sale price and a coupon were factored in. Last I checked, Sally Beauty had its ads online, so you could always watch for an amazing deal on a kit or supplies, then sign up for the membership if/when you find such a deal.

Anyway, the professional kit has worked great for me, although I do need my husband to help me with my pubic hair and armpits. It's just too hard for me to apply the wax, rub the strip on, pull the skin taut and then cause myself that kind of pain pulling the strip off on poorly visualized areas. It much easier for me to focus on relaxing, breathing (my pain threshold is seriously low), and helping Hubby pull the skin taut, handing him strips as needed, etc.

I only know of one person here (fire_breeze) who's reported very good results with the type of wax you can buy in the hair removal section of the drugstore or mass merchandiser. And I haven't been able to find the type she likes in my area. All of the types I tried before buying the professional warmer and wax (including salon-quality hard/no-strip wax; it's not right for my skin/hair type) have ended up being extremely painful, poorly done disasters.

Now I haven't waxed for a few years because pregnancy and nursing have made me even more sensitive/averse to any kind of pain, but I'm planning on starting up again in the next week or two. Because I'm not accustomed to it anymore, I bought a Groupon for 2 Brazilians at a place that had excellent reviews. So, I'll get it done professionally the first couple of times (something that's a very good idea for anyone because those are the most painful, and if you plan on waxing at home in the future, you can learn about the correct type of wax and techniques from the professional), then have Hubby help me keep it up at home after that.

yummy

Ok, now i am curious what everyone prefers, guys and gals what do you like...completely smooth, a strip, a little puff at the top? what's your fave and why??

Definitely smooth on me and my wife. Less hair to spit out during oral and I l.ove the feel.

help

i myself have been checking in to this a lot lately too - i want the hair gone, but i HATE shaving. it is sooo hard to get all the hair and manuver around in to different positions - and the stubble and bumps and ingrown hairs are just nasty. i also find that if you don't shave for another couple days the regrowth process is terribly itchy and like a prickly rash! i've always been too afraid to try things like Nair and Veet because i don't want to end up with a yeast infection from it either, so maybe waxing would be the smarter thing to do. i just haven't been able to bring myself to walk into a salon and ask for a brazillian wax and bare it all to them lol i'd probably have a heart attack! i had a good friend who went to beauty school and i was thinking about going to her because at least i knew her, but then she quit her job and now i can't go to her - figures! well, i would love to hear if anyone has had any problems with using these types of chemicals and getting infections of any kind??? i've never heard of that magic one before, but it sounds like it might be worth a try! personally i love being smooth down there, i feel less self-concious about things in that region when i can see it all myself too! don't want to be all hot and smelly or the dreaded spreading your legs and having a little tiny piece of tp stuck to your hair lol! talk about mood killers.

Mmmmm I would love to Help

I used to go for waxing and it really feels good after each session. but i found this great way of completely removing hair for good --- IPL! after 10 or so sessions, you'd be permanently hair free :) look for lifetime offers as sometimes, a stray or 2 keeps cropping up :) a bit pricier but you'd love it :)

using IPL, it would set you back by about $4k for a lifetime deal.... for your upper legs, about $3.7k
