When I Was a Kid....

WIWAK I liked to play with matches.

WIWAK and stayed at grandma's house we would walk several blocks to a store called "The Little Store." Nowadays it would be called a convenience store.

when I was a kid, I was addicted with playing super mario and street fighter on nintendo family computers......

I also never ever thought that Santa was ever real and that vegetables make people pretty.
I remember someone will force me to it vegies and say it will make me pretty but when I look at her I can't see the proof...so yea... = P

WIWAK we went to that same Little Store, except ours was "The Little Store Around the Corner".
WIWAK we drank Koolaid and Fizzies.

Damn I'm old... :(

WIWAK there was NO such thing as television... Telephones were mostly all party lines... A dozen families all on the same line... Each family had a different ring made up on long and short rings... Eaves dropping could be very informative!:devil:

Not old....experienced!!!

WIWAK we drank powdered milk and recycled every piece of aluminum foil until it couldn't be used again...leftover habits from my parents' households during WWII.;)

And when Ziploc bags came on the market, my mother threw out all the aluminum foil!!

When I was a kid I wished my parents had Kit the Knight Rider car...:)

When I was a kid I liked to act like I was in gun battles but ran out of ammo.

WIWAK my dad would send me to the store for his cigarettes and they cost 27 cents a pack.

WIWAK I had an unhealthy fascination with electric sockets...it was very shocking...

Life was so much simpler. We didn't have much but appreciated what we had so much more because of it. We rarely took anything for granted. We were respectful of those who were older than we. And if we weren't, we were reprimanded with a well aimed swat on the tush.

We were loved and loved in return, unconditionally, without pride or prejudice. Our family unit was a strong one. We protected one-another. It was safe, relatively speaking. Certainly felt safer then, than it does now. But, that may be because it was from a child's perspective.

When I was a kid I spent a lot of time riding my bicycle.
I still do...

Does this mean I never grew up?

WIWAK -- we called them "thongs" but they now call them "flip flops". I get strange looks from my kids when I mention I have thongs on my feet.

WIWAK we made our halloween costumes from old clothes out of our parents closets. We also used those very large brown paper grocery bags to collect our candy and never trick or treated until after dark.

WIWAK we were fishing with my grandfather and he told me, "Last time I fished here I caught one fish and it was about the size of your pecker." I asked him how much help he needed landing the fish. He rolled over laughing, but my dad put the belt to my butt for talking about "such things."

WIWAK I had tons of energy on a Friday night. Of course, WIWAK I didn't have a kid to drain my energy all day long.

WIWAK I used to hike around in the woods looking for bugs, moss, and mushrooms.....and it never ever crossed my mind that some bad person might snatch me away.
