When I Was a Kid....

WIWAK, we went to Sunday School and Church every Sunday.

WIWAK, we still had a moment of silent prayer in school before we said the Pledge of Allegiance.

WIWAK, I was terrified the day the KKK decided to have a parade through my hometown.

WIWAK, I don't remember ever going to bed at night feeling regret about something I did/said during the course of the day.

I also don't remember getting up in the morning with a sense of apprehension about "who am I going to hurt/piss off today?"

*sigh* I think that's what I miss..***** just seemed so damn much easier without responsibilities.

WIWAK we walked to and from school and didn't complain, because it meant we were trusted enough to be responsible.

And WIWAK if you got dropped off at school by a parent driving you, you were a super huge dork. And got ridiculed severely for it. And if Mommy or Daddy picked you up from the bus stop, no matter what your age, you heard about it the next day all day in school.

WIWAK in high school, you could usually get into the drive in movies for $1.50 per car load. Cokes at the movie were 15 cents, candy bars for a dime, large popcorn for a dime. We still couldn't afford to go every week. We thought it was a big deal being able to go a couple times a year.

WIWAk Chuck E Cheese was the party place to be (at least amongst my peers)

WIWAK we actually trekked out to the Christmas tree farm and cut down our own tree...:)

WIWAK Lake Pontchartrain was clean enough to swim in, but you had to be careful of the green mold on the concrete steps when coming out, cuz it was really slippery.

WIWAK we learned how to swim by being thrown in the deep end.

WIWAK we actually played 'outside' until it was dark instead of sitting in the house playing on the pc or game console.

Us too!

WIWAK we used to go bike riding with Dad on Sunday afternoons.

WIWAK we used moldy oranges that we let soak in a 5 gallon bucket of water for two days so they hurt! Oh...and bamboo switches.

lol! So what we're remembering is that when we were kids, we used to play with Sticks! :D

WIWAK, Lite Brite was the coolest toy...and that damn jingle still gets stuck in my head...

WIWAK one of my favorite toys was called a "Footsie". It looped around your ankle and you had to hop over the rope with the weight attached to it as you swung it around. And no, I STILL cannot Hula-Hoop, dammit!!!

WIWAK I would spend my Sundays sleeping on the front pew of the church...

WIWAK... Your parents could beat the crap out of you for doing something wrong and if you even thought about calling the police to report them, the police would come thump on you too.

WIWAK my mom used to pack a lunch for me every day. It consisted of a sandwich of some type, a piece of fruit, and a Tastykake! Loved the butterscotch krimpets, and the creme filled cup cakes. :)
