When I Was a Kid....

WIWAK...

I had like 20 Barbies but only one Ken >.> He was very busy.

I also loved Rainbow Brite, the Care Bears and My Little Pony.

I wore jelly shoes and watched M.A.S.H., The Dukes of Hazzard and American Bandstand on Saturday afternoon.

We played Hide-n-Go-Get-It

i played M.A.S.H - remember that game? Mansion. Apartment. Shack. House?

WIWAK...

I only had 3 Barbies.
We used to use books to make Barbie rooms because the Barbie house was outrageuosly expensive.
My brother played Barbie with me when my friends weren't around.

My brother also played Barbie withe me, he had no choice i made him lol

Mom found me a Barbie beach house at the goodwill one year and before that I used baby blankets as the carpeting and set what furniture I had and made the 'house' ;)

One year Mom & Dad didn't have a lot of money for christmas and so my Dad made me a Barbie bed and my Mom made the matching bedsheets and pillows for it :D To go with it I got a small basket full of secondhand Barbies including Malibu Barbie which I absolutely LOVED.

WIWAK I used to lay in the back window of the family car on trips and stare at the stars. I sat on my Mom's lap on the way home from the hospital. Dad was still smoking the cigar he lit in the maternity ward. Damn I'm old.lol

and it didn't even come furnished! dream house my eye. it was an overpriced two story shell. i knew better not to even ask for one - i was happy with stacking pillows and finding things around my house to use.

WIWAK my Mom would put a pillow on the floor of the front seat just in case we rolled off lol

My Grandma made most of my Barbie clothes. She would make matching ones for me too. My favorite was a red flannel nightgown trimmed in lace...

I was too. Our "house" was always so much bigger and had hallways!!

WIWAK

We rode in the back of the Citation with the hatchback up and our feet dangling out!

when i was a kid i loved looking at the Sear's catalog, especially the Wish Book.

My Mom taught me to sew and would buy me remnants from the fabric store that I would use to make my dolls clothes with :)

One year my Dad made me a hand cranked ferris wheel for my dolls but the barbies didn't fit so I used it for my She-Ra dolls instead :D

My Mom drove a Gremlin >.<

when i was a kid i loved looking at the Sear's catalog, especially the Wish Book.

I used to cut out pictures from the Wish Book of what I wanted for Christmas and tape them to my list as a visual aid.

When I was a kid I would be counting the days at this time of year :)

So funny you said that, Papa...we have a Christmas countdown chalkboard that hangs in our kitchen all year...right now the word "Christmas" is covered up with a colorful sign that says: "30 days til Graduation."

Some things never change!!:D

WIWAK...I used to collect live mushrooms and fungus from the trees in the woods behind my house :) Now, I collect little bird's nests (abandoned ones of course)

when i was a kid, i.............wait, wtf, i still am and will always be.........:D

When I was a kid we would run through the cornfield to the train tracks and wait for my uncles on their way to the switching yard. They would throw us big pieces of chalk to play hopscotch with.

When I was a kid we would all play baseball in the street and when it started to get dark on of us would get a ripe tomato to pitch with to see who would fall for it.

When I was a kid and it would start to rain I would grab tomatoes out of the garden and my grandfather and I would sit on the porch eating them with salt.

WIWAK I used to sleep in church (on the front pew)...you would think the minister would have taken a hint from that...

WIWAK bad economy, high gas prices, unemployment. lousy foreign policy. So what has changed between the Carter years and now:confused:

WIWAK, we were taught common courtesy -- to say "Please," "Thank you," or "Excuse me." I find the generation of young adults these days to be increasingly rude and discourteous. And believe me, I'm ornery enough to stop you and point out, with an attempt to correct, your bad behavior.
