When I Was a Kid....

WIWAK the dishwasher was either me, or one of my brothers. :D

When I was a kid I remember how cheap items were in a grocery store compared to today.

WIWAK, to get ice we had to fill up the ice trays as we did not have an ice-maker

You give them to the kids to return, they can buy sweets then! That's what we used to do! :D

My kids aren't old enough for that yet, I do love to give them to anyone collecting pop cans for a fundraiser. :D

WIWAK....I remember the distinctive sounds that the Helm's Baery donut truck had as it made it to the street. Buying the crumb donuts out of the lift in the back was like xmas in the morning.

WIWAK....we were the last family on the block to buy a color TV. The first color TV show I watched was one of the original Star Trek episodes while it still aired live. We were shocked at the colors....lol.

WIWAK....the TV had no remote control, and the tv channel changer kept falling off, so we ditched the knob and went to using vice grips to change the channel.

This made me laugh, too, because I can remember going over to a friend's house to watch Wizard of Oz one time during the annual showing, and she had a color television. I ran home and told my older brothers that when Dorothy went over the rainbow, it was all in color! They didn't believe me until two years later when we finally bought a color television!!!:D

I can visualize that...lol....naturally, my dad used to love watching all the old black and white movies after work, while my mom used to love the old, "I Love Lucy" black and white tv shows. So, unless they were gone, the color part of the color TV wasn't used much. The show I was able to watch because they were typically gone that particular night each week was Laugh-In. It was in color...lol...

Then you'll get this...WIWAK, I had a Bippy! An actual, stuffed Bippy!!!:D

lol...

WIWAK...the height of coolness was to take an old playing card and use a clothes pin and attach it to the back frame so it would hit the spokes of your tires as you rode. You were considered "rich" if you had TWO of them to use.

WIWAK, we had to make "hot chocolate" by heating milk in a saucepan on the stove and stirring in Hershey's powdered cocoa...and adding sugar, and lots of marshmallow fluff on top!:D

WIWAK...there was absolutely NO political correctness in any Bugs Bunny or Road Runner cartoon....

WIWAK... I was only sightly more innocent than I am now.

*Straitens my crooked, tarnished, bent halo.*

WIWAK the President of the USA got a blow job in the oval office, the current President of Baylor spent millions finding that was a fact, and wondering why he did not get one.....lmao

Ellafun Newspaper ink

They do have a newspaper ink that won't come off on your hands. The Detroit Free Press started using it over 10 years ago. However, many newspapers are too darn cheap to use it!!
