Where's Trump's Marbles?

Look! New York Times suddenly discovers Trump’s extensive ‘cognitive decline’

Throughout Donald Trump’s presidency, the New York Times faced relentless charges of selling out for access journalism — minimizing the administration’s ineptitude and cruelty in order to maintain favored status among national media companies.

And during the current presidential campaign, the Times has suffered withering critiques of “sane-washing” Trump’s rambling, incoherence and failure to put forth — let alone understand — complex policy proposals.

But now, roughly a month before the election — after running President Joe Biden from the election with non-stop questions about his age — the Times seemingly has just discovered that Trump, now the oldest candidate to run for president, “rambles, he repeats himself, he roams from thought to thought — some of them hard to understand, some of them unfinished, some of them factually fantastical. He voices outlandish claims that seem to be made up out of whole cloth.”

In an explanatory Sunday piece on Trump’s cognitive decline, reporters Peter Baker and Dylan Freedman — should be read anything into Maggie Haberman’s byline not being on this report? — finally compile what millions of voters already have witnessed: The mental degradation of Trump.

Face it: Donald Trump, at 78, has lost his grip

Has anyone noticed that Donald Trump, at age 78, is no longer capable of expressing a cogent thought? He is not the man he was in 2016, and the decline should scare us.

You might not appreciate how much ground he has lost if you only read the snippets. Because reporters covering his rallies often try to help their readers make sense of Trump’s rambling by quoting short excepts, couched by their own interpretations of what he probably meant to say. There’s even a new term for it – sanewashing.

But read a full transcript, and you can see why a cognitive test is in order, and why it’s a serious problem that Trump has refused to release his medical records.

Take a look at this ramble, from an appearance with Tucker Carlson:

“So, we built a thing called the Panama Canal. We lost 35,000 people to the mosquito, you know, malaria. We lost 35,000 people building — we lost 35,000 people because of the mosquito. Vicious. They had to build under nets. It was one of the true great wonders of the world. As he said, ‘One of the nine wonders of the world.’ No, no, it was one of the seven. It just happened a little while ago. You know, he says, ‘Nine wonders of the world.’ You could make nine wonders. He would’ve been better off if he stuck with the nine and just said, ‘Yeah, I think it’s nine.’”
Some aging experts see signs of cognitive decline. The way his train of thought jerks back and forth, one tangent after another. His increasing tendency to use absolute terms, like “never” or “always” or calling Kamala Harris a “communist” and a “fascist.”

A team of reporters at the New York Times studied his rally speeches now, compared to 2016, and found that he drones on much longer, for 82 minutes now, compared to 45 minutes in the earlier campaign. A detailed look revealed that the speeches now are “darker, harsher, longer, angrier, less focused, more profane and increasingly fixated on the past,” the Times found.

A hugely amount of empty seats today. Now he's cussing and ranting about how lucky these losers are to have him there because he could be sunbathing on a beach.
More of "your son goes to school and comes home a girl" hysteria.

Huh? I have posted the latest polls from realclearpolitics.com and video of the Reading, PA rally. Are you suggesting I concocted the polls and the video? As for "an alt", what is that? Do you mean my screen name? Have you not noticed that everyone here has a screen name, including you? Your avatar is hardly revealing.

Smacks of effort; not convincing in the least.

Final performance grade: D-

Trump is able to make Democrats hang on and parse his every word every day.

Even the most dim posters here must notice that Harris supporters here talk about Trump nonstop.

Consequently, if Harris does have policies and views… you’re not going to hear them.

But you will hear about Trump. From all sides, 24/7.

Amazing how he does that.
